”Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my king, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.” (Psalm 5: 1-2 KJV)
Many prayer efforts are nullified by improper heart condition. It is very pertinent to note that in the place of prayer, God listens more to what the heart is saying than words of the mouth. Yes the heart speaks. If what the mouth is saying is inconsistent with what the heart says, it amounts to hypocrisy. This is why many prayers are not answered.
The Psalmist says:
”If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”. (Psalm 66:18 KJV)
The devil knows this fact. That is why if he cannot stop you from praying, he will try bombarding your mind with iniquity. In the Bible the words heart and mind are used interchangeably. Fiercest spiritual battles are fought in the mind. Anything that conquers the mind will control the man. Your mind is your thinking self. It pays to bring the meditations of our heart under the constant scrutiny of the Holy Spirit. It is important to ensure that the meditations of your heart are in line with the revealed will of God as contained in the Bible.
Admonishing Joshua after the death of Moses, God said:
”This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8 KJV).
If you labour in the word of God, you will be free from the world. This is the secret of comprehensive success. Apostle Paul answers the very important question of what to think on:
”Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philipians 4:8 KJV)
Before asking God to give ear to your words, and consider your meditations, ensure that both are consistent with His word. I strongly believe that if this necessary condition is fulfilled, prayers will be answered at ”the speed of thought.”

Heavenly Father, I thank you that your word is able to deliver me to the utmost. I celebrate your word. I appropriate the anointing for comprehensive success that your word carries. I ask you to mercifully forgive all my past wrong meditations and I saturate my mind with the precious blood of Jesus your dear Son. Grant that henceforth, the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart will always be acceptable to you. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
