DOMINION OVER DARKNESS(PART IV) THE LORD IS MY LIGHT

Text: Psa. 27: 1-14 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple … I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD”.

This psalm is a psalm of the presence of the Almighty God. When the Lord is your light, there is no how you will not shine. When the Lord is your light, your light will spread. When the Lord is your light, there is not enough darkness in the whole world that can stop you from shinning. When the Lord is your light, no amount of conspiracy or satanic gang up against you shall succeed, when the Lord is your light, no amount of opposition, enchantments, manipulations, curse or amalgamated forces of darkness can withstand you. When the Lord is your light, you are made, you can go to rest, darkness will see you and evaporate, witches will see you and quake, anywhere you enter, darkness disappears. When the Lord is your light, you will become a terror to the kingdom of darkness. When others are saying there is a casting down, you will be smiling at the storm; the same storm that sank the ship of others will lift your own ship like the ark of Noah.

However, before the Lord can be your light, there are certain things you need to do; there are certain internal things – internal forces of darkness that need to give. If you want the Lord to be your light, it is mandatory that you kill the dross. What is dross? Dross is accumulated filth. The Bible says in Prov. 25:4 “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer”. If you take away the dross, you will shine. Remember that you do not have any light of your own; all you need do is position yourself properly just as the moon (which has no light of its own) positions itself along the axis of the sun in order to become a reflection. We are called to be reflections of the glory of God. This world can be classified into two – light and darkness. Everything you say, think or do either promotes light or darkness. Dross is nothing but accumulated filth. Any time filth is accumulated, the snake will appear. Leviathan feeds on filth, it is the dross eater.

For the Lord to be your light, you must run away from every appearance of evil. That is why you must keep away from anything that defiles and damns. If there is anything that stops the glory from shining, it sin (sin is an acronym for satan in our nature). Anything that is capable of attracting satan to you is darkness, he is the father of darkness and there is no light in him. God is light and there is no darkness at all in him. In the final analysis, every fight you have ever fought and will ever fight is a fight between light and darkness. Every fight that is being fought on earth today is a struggle between light and darkness.

One of the things the devil does not relent in doing is contaminating, corrupting or perverting light. Look at the ways he perverts and twists the word of God and manipulates institutions. The marriage institution has been so bastardized that it is difficult for even Christians to stand and say the right thing. There is a serious struggle by the kingdom of darkness to take charge and put off light. Satan is a light extinguisher if you allow him. That is why the sacred institutions on the earth have been perverted. Who could ever think that there will be a time when Anglican Bishops will come together to debate if a gay should be ordained as a bishop? Man can now marry man, they call it same-sex marriage to make it look nice and this has become an international issue. That is the level of darkness that is in the world today. There is virtually nothing that cannot be corrupted. Even a he-goat does not mate with a he-goat; a male dog does not mate with a male dog but human beings do this. The word of God is so rich; there is nothing that is happening now that was not revealed. Isa. 60”2 says “For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people”. This is one of the most dangerous times to raise children; raising godly children in the world today is not a tea party.

One of the things the Lord is teaching me about the reason why darkness is so pervasive in the world today is that those who should confront darkness are not doing so, instead they have compromised. This is so painful. Parents who refuse to confront darkness have no future, if they ever live to old age, it will be in agony, sorrow and regret. You must not allow that to happen.
