Text: Psa. 74:13-15
“Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads
of the dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of leviathan
in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting
the wilderness. Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou
driedst up mighty rivers”.
From time to time, darkness gets personified, it can put on flesh. That is why everyone must be very careful so as not to become an agent of darkness. It is possible to start as light and end up as darkness. By revelation, Apostle Peter told Jesus that he was the Lord and Jesus made a statement that upon the revelation of his lordship as the Son of God, he will build his Church and not on Peter, as many people erroneously believe. When Jesus revealed what he will go through on the cross, the same Peter rebuked Jesus and immediately Jesus rebuked the spirit “Get thee behind me, satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men”. Matt. 16:23. Jesus was able to discern that it was the voice of satan and not Peter; he was able to see darkness in operation. In order to confront darkness, you need discerning of spirits. Until you learn to address the spirit, you will be operating superficially. Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, started well. He must have been one of those who cast out devils but there was a seed of darkness in him that he never dealt with and that was what the devil capitalized on in order to bring him down.
Isa. 27:1-3 “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard or red wine. I the LORD do keep it, I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day”. This is a description of the sword that the Lord himself will use to shatter the heads of Leviathan. There is a time in your life when the intervention of God is needed to put paid to every activity of agents of darkness that have kept you down.
Spiritual serpent lives upon the sins of lust of the flesh; spiritual dust. What a terrible thing when people surrender to its control. It is much better to present our bodies as holy sacrifice to Jesus. Natural serpent was punished by taking away its legs leaving it to crawl upon its belly in the dust. When the snake entered the Garden of Eden, it was not crawling on its belly it was the curse that God placed upon it that made it become not only a crawling animal but also a dust eater. Snakes are attracted to places where there is dust. What constitutes spiritual dust? LUST. The devil comes to feast on lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Once this set up is in place, he comes in to look for his food. That is why sanctification is not an option but an obligation to anybody who wants to see the glory of God. Any vessel that attracts dust cannot shine. We must be very careful about some of the messages that are flying now; the enemy has succeeded in perverting a lot of messages. A close study of the Bible reveals that the devil did not start doing this now; the Church of the first century already had other messages. There are other gospels that are materialistic; gospel that propagate that it does not matter how you live once you have said the sinners’ prayer. This is not right. That was exactly what Apostle Jude addressed in his book. Apostle Paul talked about those whose god is their belly, those who mind earthly things whose glory is their shame. Prov. 25:4 says, “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer”. Dross is accumulated dust. It takes fire to remove the dross.
