Gen 1:28, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”. This is our dominion mandate. When God created man, he created man to have dominion. When you wake up every morning, remind yourself of this and declare ‘I am created to have dominion’. Man was never created to be tossed about by every wind of adversity. No. Man was given Lord Tenancy over the planet earth. God created man to take charge of the forces of the air, the forces of the water and the forces of the earth. Man was to be in splendor and that blessing included fruitfulness. You were made to be full of fruits, that is what it means to be fruitful. You were made to increase, to multiply and to subdue, you were not meant to be subdued. Where then did man miss it?
Gen. 3:17-19, “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shall thou return.” Men beware! Do not take the advice of your wife if it is contrary to the instructions of God. Women are not meant to lead men, men are to lead women. It is a misnomer; an aberration when men abdicate their responsibility. That was how problem started on earth. There are things that women are better suited for; women are more sensitive in some respects. A woman is wired to feel while a man thinks. That is the reason why the man is the head and not the body but both of them are complementary. That was how God, in his wisdom, designed it. If, however, you misplace the order, then you will become an Adam.
The tragedy in many homes today is that men have relinquished their responsibility of leadership and have handed the leadership of the home to the woman. Whenever you notice that your wife is frolicking with the snake, you must kill that snake immediately, otherwise, she will confuse you by bringing a wrong word that is contrary to the word of God. That was what brought scarcity and thistles in the first place; that was what brought curse.
If you don’t terminate scarcity, poverty will kill you. A lot of people die because they don’t have enough money to buy medicine. When people are poor, the only thing they think about is their stomach; food. Whenever you are studying the book of Genesis, take your time to study it, don’t rush because Genesis is the seed plot of the Bible, it is the book of origins – origin of things. Take a careful look at the content of the curse that was pronounced on man. It says the earth will bring forth thorns and thistles, this is the origin of suffering, it is the origin of scarcity, lack, hardship, labour without anything to show for it, it is the origin of eating the bread of anxious labour, the origin of dryness. Instead of the soil bring its lushest fruits, it began to bring thorns, briers and thistles. Thorns, briers and thistles signify human suffering and hardship.
Isa. 27:1-4, “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.” God has given his word that he will punish that ancient serpent. The word of God is so consistent. Many years before Jesus was born physically, God had already spoken, even in Genesis 3 where we have the first messianic prophecy. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”. Gen. 3:15.
