DOMINION OVER THE SPIRIT OF POVERTY (SEVEN REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT BE POOR)

  • The supply is according to God’s riches not according to your riches. Phil. 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. Anything God has, he has it in infinity so you cannot liquidate God. Whenever God gives you a blank cheque, make sure that you optimize, take full advantage of it.
  • According to 2 Cor. 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”. God is able. Anybody who is serving a poor god is not serving the right God. God is able to make all grace abound towards you so that you will always have all sufficiency and not lack. Declare this, ‘I receive grace for all sufficiency, I will never lack any of the good things that follow those who serve God, I am serving the living God who is able to make all grace abound so that I will always have all sufficiency and so that I may abound in every good work’. The reason why God wants to empower you is not so that you can consume it in self aggrandizement but for the furtherance of his kingdom.

SEVEN VITAL KEYS YOU NEED TO TERMINATE POVERTY

Obedience. It is not optional. Job 36:11, “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures”. The Bible is a book of ‘ifs’. It is a book of decisions and not just a book of destinies, that is why the word ‘if’ is one of the most important words in the Bible. Most promises in the Bible have conditions and the ‘if’ speaks of those conditions. Isa. 1:19 says, “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”. Obedience qualifies you to eat the good of the land.

The fear of God. Psa. 112:1-3, “Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever”. It is a commanded blessing. The fear of God provokes blessings.

Giving. You cannot out give God. “While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”. Gen. 8:22. This is a principle. Givers never lack. The Bible says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured unto you again”. Luke 6:38. There are two classes of Churches here on earth – the giving Church and the non-giving Church. The non-giving Church is always full of struggles while the giving Church prospers. Poverty is a very bad spirit that comes with a lot of terrible rationalizations in the heart. It is not because you don’t have that you don’t give, on the contrary, it is because you don’t give that you don’t have. Giving starts from the heart. Jesus said “that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury” Mark 12:43b. Why? “For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living” Mark 12:44. If the widow of Zarephath had held back her last meal from Elijah the Prophet, she would not have been blessed. Give God something to multiply. One of the reasons why people die poor is because they continually eat their seed. Poverty makes people eat their seed while expecting a harvest. Any time you sow a seed, you are scheduling a season of harvest. Those who eat their seed also schedule a season, however, it is a season of dryness, a season of poverty. Whatever makes you eat your seed is not of God and must be terminated.
