SAY ”THANK YOU”

“Say Thank you to the Lord for being so good, for always being so loving and kind. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has saved you from your enemies”-
Psalm 107:1-2 TLB.

One of the character traits man acquired from Adam is ingratitude. Ingratitude is a very toxic attitude. A perfect God created a perfect environment, then created a perfect man, and gave him Lord-tenancy over the planet earth with only one command. Adam could not even say “Thank you”. He took the mercies of God for granted. He was not a worshipper. He elevated the word of a creature above the Word of the Creator. No wonder he fell.

When he fell, Adam was still unrepentant. Refusing to take responsibility for his actions he chose to blame God for the woman He gave him. This is the origin of the mystery of ingratitude; the root of every sin.

As imperfect people in an imperfect environment, it can be easy just to focus on the problems, trials, and challenges we face. Faced with practical issues of daily life, our challenges and obstacles can seem insurmountable. We can feel hopeless, confused or afraid.

But the bible tells us: “No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 TLB

Once we set our heart to constantly say Thank you to the Lord, we will find zillions of reasons to do so. We need to thank God for who He is. He is good. His mercy endures forever. We should thank Him for: what He has done, what He is doing, what He will do, and for what He can do. By focusing on the greatness of God, thanksgiving helps us demystify the present challenges.

The surest way of demystifying the mystery of ingratitude is thanksgiving. The first Adam fell, because he was not thankful. The second Adam (Jesus Christ) succeeded because He was a profound worshipper. He was thankful. For instance, confronted with the challenge of feeding five thousand men with just five loaves of bread and two fish, the bible states: “Jesus took the five loaves and two fish and looked up into the sky and gave thanks; then He broke off pieces for the disciples to set before the crowd. And everyone ate and ate, still twelve baskets of scraps were picked up afterwards”- Luke 9:16-17 TLB

The blessings of thanksgiving are boundless. It certainly pays to say “Thank you” to the Lord for being so good.

ACTION POINT

You can be transformed from the nature of the first Adam to the nature of Christ by giving your life to Jesus Christ. Say the simple prayer below:

Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, I unreservedly surrender my life to you. I confess that you died and rose from the dead for me. Please be my Lord and personal saviour and grant me the grace to live for you all the days of my life. Thank you so much, Lord Jesus, I proclaim I am born again. Amen.

PRAYER

Worship the Lord from the depth of your heart. Give Him glory. Give Him thanks. Praise Him for who He is, what He has done for you; what He is currently doing in your life, what He will do and for what He can do. Thank Him for His plans for you; plans of peace not of evil to give you an expected end. Thank Him for His boundless love for you. Thank Him for the many provisions He has made for your well being here and hereafter. SAY THANK YOU TO THE LORD.
