CELEBRATING THE PRECIOUS HOLY SPIRIT IV (WHY SPEAK IN TONGUES?)

It is a source of personal edification. 1 Cor. 14:4, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.” Jude 20, “But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” To edify means to build up. How we need edification! Your faith is built up when you pray in tongues; you are building up your faith to discern and to walk in dominion over the forces of repression, suppression, depression, affliction and so on. Above all, you build up your faith in order to walk in dominion over darkness.

It is the realm of ultimate spiritual communion with God. 1 Cor. 14:2, “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” After praying in tongues for a while, you will feel the very presence of God with you, so close to you. Psa. 42:7, “Deep calleth unto deep at the noise thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.” God is not superficial that is why superficial worship cannot fly; superficial Christianity cannot please God. Anything that is superficial cannot touch God. God is deep. You must dig deep inside of you and bring out from the depth of your heart because God himself desires it from there; that is what God honours.

The reason why a lot of prayers don’t fly is because they are prayed in the realm of the flesh and it is written clearly in Rom. 8:8 that anything that is done in the flesh cannot please God. So, when we come in the flesh speaking grammar, it doesn’t fly. There are barriers that need to be broken when you pray. If I want to pray in tongues, I may start in the flesh but after few minutes, I will get into the spirit realm; it gives me so much joy that the answers come with dispatch.

The reason why many people are laid back in the things of God is because they never really touch God, in other words, God has never really touched them. If you touch God and God touches you, your life will cease to be ordinary. The first thing that dies is the diseased perception of reality that man acquired in the Garden of Eden. That is the meaning of transformation. That is how to be Christlike. You become like Christ seeking only how to please the Father, yielding your will to the will of the Father and you begin to journey with the Holy Ghost. That journey is sweet.

The presence of God is to be enjoyed, no dryness, no trying to be like others. If you touch God and you are still looking for another thing, then, you didn’t touch the real God but if it is the living God, heaven will start with you and when heaven begins with you, everything down here will be what it is supposed to be – toys. You will be above all because you have come from above; born in the spirit, washed in the spirit, consecrated to manifest God everywhere. That is what God is looking for. It is not about emblems. You cease from being a wannabe. You don’t need any makeup after God has made you. Anything that needs a make up was never complete on it’s own.
