Exo. 20:4-5 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting unto the third and forth generation of them that hate me”. God hated, still hates and will continue to hate idolatry. It is important to continue to emphasize this because of those who profess that we are no longer under the law. Jesus is the fulfilment of the law. A true child of God does not have any business doing what God hates.
Recently, the Lord led me to do a deep study of the Epistles of Apostle Paul and the revelations I got are so revealing. Those who read the epistles casually come up with various forms of theologies such as the theology of easy believism that presents grace as a licence to sin. Some people even say that you need not pray repentance prayers often and other forms of fallacious theologies. However, if you take your time to study the Epistles of Apostle Paul, you will discover Paul’s emphasis on purity. There is actually more emphasis on holiness than any other thing in Apostle Paul’s letters to the various saints. If you understand this, you will not accommodate any nonsense. Remember that anything you accommodate will soon become your tenant; if you tolerate idolatry, it will become your tenant.
Exo. 34:6-7, “And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, THE LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and upon children’s children, unto the third and to the forth generation.” God is merciful, the prerogative of mercy lies with him, he forgives iniquity, he forgives transgressions. He reserves mercy for a thousand but the scripture went further to say that, he will by no means clear the guilty.
PRAY:- Heavenly father I worship you. I thank you for the many provisions you have made for my well-being here and hereafter. I ask you to forgive all my iniquities and cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. I renounce every claim of idolatry over my life, and I ask you for grace to love you above anything else in this world. I trust you to perfect every thing that concerns me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
