- Decision to fear the Lord; to walk in reverential fear of God all the days of your life. Job 28:28, “And this is what he says to all mankind: Look, to fear the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding” (TLB). You can hide your sin from man but you can never hide it from God. Take note that your sin does not affect or diminish God in any way, your sin affects you and it is because God knows what sin will do to you that he does not want you to sin. Sin is like using gun to shoot yourself and you are the object of God’s absolute love. Every sin cuts the glory of God short and when the glory departs, there will be all manner of incursions; the enemy will step in and there will be sickness and other terrible things. This is the technical aspect of the word of God that is no longer emphasized. I run away from sin because I know the consequences, I understand the nature of evil. When people don’t recognize the nature of evil, they try to fraternize with it. Don’t politicize evil, evil is evil! It is a universal phenomenon, it has no colour barrier. Wisdom makes you understand that the evil you condone will eventually contaminate to consume you. That is why wise people don’t tolerate it.
Pray –
- Lord, help me to fear you; help me to walk in reverential fear of you all the days of my life in the mighty name of Jesus. Help me to tremble at your presence, help me O God to always keep away from anything that you dislike.
- Grant me this grace for the rest of my life, in the name of Jesus, to know that you are always there, you are present everywhere at all times so Lord help me never to lose the sense of your presence in the name of Jesus. Thank you faithful God in Jesus name.
The fear of God will guide you through life. If the fear of God is in you, there is no way you will not say an emphatic ‘No’! when it becomes necessary to do so. You will be able to fence off certain things. If you want to get to the next level, there are certain people you need to drop. You must not tag along with everybody. Human beings are like elevators; anyone that comes into your life will either takes you up or brings you down. When some people come into your life, you will start suffering defeats; this is because a lot of people are carrying all manner of seals. Which seal are you carrying? Before God could bless Abraham, he had to disconnect from Lot; before Isaiah could see the Lord, Uzziah had to die. There are things you did in the previous year which you need to drop if you want to have a glorious new year.
- Decision to be thankful. This year, decide to give God thanks from the depth of your heart whether it is convenient to do so or not; decide to be full of gratitude. Thanksgiving is the will of God. Thanksgiving destroys the mystery of ingratitude, thanksgiving positions you for perfection, thanksgiving brings increase; thanksgiving is the will of God for you. Psa. 92:1 says “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.” Whenever you are thanking God, you are doing a good thing.
