THE POWER OF DEDICATION II

It takes wisdom for one to recognize one’s strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In our previous discuss, we saw how a perfect man that was created by a perfect God and placed in a perfect environment could not keep a simple instruction. Looking at the circumstances that led to the fall of Adam in Eden, you will discover that at the heart of it was the seed of ingratitude. The first sin was not outright disobedience but lack of recognition. It takes recognition for you to be thankful. You can’t be thankful to a benevolence you do not recognize. The root of the fall of man can be traced to ingratitude. You cannot disobey an instruction until you have devalued the instructor.

In the book of Genesis, before God created man, he created a perfect environment. In chapter two, God was watchful to note what Adam named the things he created. Adam did conduct naming ceremonies but there was no where he worshipped God. He devalued the omnipotence of God, he devalued the omnipresence of God otherwise he would not have committed sin where God was, he also devalued the omniscient nature of God. If he didn’t, he would not have committed sin and expect that God will not know. So the first Adam failed but glory be to God, God loves man so much that he did not decide to do away with man completely. That is why the Psalmist said, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psa. 8:4). God decided to give man a second chance by sending his Son to shed his precious blood for you and I. It was a very difficult decision. God had to become man in order to redeem man because it was man that sinned so it was imperative for a man to die. The reason why a lot of people trivialize sin is because they fail to understand the nature of God. The truth side of God hates and judges sin. The mercy side of God is the horizontal side while the truth side is the vertical side. The truth side of God hates and judges sin. If it could take God sending his Son to die for you and I in order to eradicate sin, you can imagine the power and weight of sin. This understanding should deter you from committing sin.

Pray –

  • Lord, help me never again to toy with the idea of sin. Help me never to toy with any sin at all. All the days of my life, keep me undefiled, keep me pure in Jesus name.

It is possible to live a holy life if you recognize it. If it were not possible God will not give the injunction, “Be ye holy: for I the Lord your God am holy” Lev. 19:2B. The secret of being holy is, loving God. If you fall in love with God, you will not want to offend him, you will not want to do what he hates. You will love what he loves and hate what he hates. Holiness is, loving God and going out of your way to please him in all things. If you succeed in living holy in one hour, you can do it in a day, and if you can live holy in a day, you can live holy in one week; one day at a time until it becomes your nature.

Pray-

Heavenly Father grant me the grace to live above sin for the remaining part of my life in Jesus name. Amen.
