2021/2022 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 7H (CONFRONTING IDOLATRY II)

The bible says “if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). The foundation of the Christian faith is the word of God. The written word is the revealed will of God. Jesus is the incarnate word according to John 1:1. According to 1 Cor 3:11, “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” The heart condition has to be right for the word of God to flourish. If you can get it right in the garden of the heart, every other thing will naturally fall in place. At the very heart of worship is love – being so fanatically in love with God that the idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. This is in tandem with the word of God in Matt 22:37, the great commandment. From this scripture it is obvious that the divine prescription for our relationship with God is one hundred percent love for God.

For a true worshipper, giving, intercession, warfare, grace, faith, holiness, and praise come naturally. If you teach people giving before they become true worshippers, you will produce idolaters. Without true worship, grace will be misunderstood to be a license to sin and holiness becomes legalistic. This is one of the mistakes of many churches today. The church has been producing workers but God is still looking for those that worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). At times, error can be in precedence or emphasis. Once a person becomes a worker, it becomes difficult to make that person a true worshipper. For a true worshipper, every service in the kingdom is worship. Worship is not what you do, worship is who you are. Martha was a worker, and her sister Mary a worshipper. Jesus commented that Mary made a wiser decision. It can be concluded that it is better to be a worshipper than to be a worker in God’s kingdom.

One thing about Christian ethics is in its inwardness. Everybody’s work will be tried by fire. Anything done in the flesh cannot please God. According to 1 Cor 3:12-15 “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
