Matt. 6:27-33, “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore, take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
The emphasis is not what are you seeking, it is what are you seeking first? A lot of people are seeking God but are they seeking him first? Where is God in the equation of your life? Where have you placed God? If you place God first in your heart, he will elevate you. There is nothing you hand over to God that is not enhanced. This is high level wisdom. I have practiced it and it is working in my life. May God help you to place him first. It is God that gives seed to the sower. Anything you hand over to God is enhanced.
After toiling and getting nothing, Peter handed over his ship to Jesus and he had a net breaking catch. What are you waiting for? It is not about seeking him, are you seeking him first? Where is God in the scheme of things in your life? For most people, it is money (you may call it career, business, trade or profession), family and then God. This is a distortion, it is a demotion and deception of the highest order. It is error.
God must come first, family second (God is interested in families. It is the first institution that God established) and then career. Those who have this twisted suffer even in this life because whatever you chase will always be ahead of you. Even if you have the money, you may create a problem that money cannot solve in the family.
Pray –
- Father, please help me to get my priorities right in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Make it impossible for me to chase shadows and miss you. Help me to prioritize right where I am missing it. Grant me the grace, O God, to always put you first in everything I do in the name of Jesus Christ.
- Help me to shift the center of gravity in my life from self to you. Help me to shift the center of gravity in my life from pursuing money to pursuing you. For the rest of my life, make me a God chaser in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you blessed Lord. Amen.
