It is a privilege to worship the living God, don’t take it for granted because a lot of people are worshipping an unknown god. We are not worshipping an unknown god but the living God, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has begotten us through the death and burial of his Son Jesus Christ, so we can call him Abba Father. What a wonderful privilege. Christianity is not a religion. Religion is fallen man’s attempt to find a loving God. Christianity is a loving God’s attempt to reconcile fallen man to him. What a difference!
Remember that we are in the end time and things are happening very fast. One whose house is on fire should not be chasing rat. We cannot be talking about religious influence at such a time as this. It cannot produce a true disciple of Jesus Christ. If you have defined something wrongly, there is no how you can get the right solution.
The more programmes organized by ministries, the more problems there are in the society, and the less influence the church wields. There is no influence outside the purpose of God that can stand and that is real influence. There is no influence without the cross. Whenever the Church moves away from the cross which is God’s own prescription for all the maladies in the world, there will be problems. Pause and respect it because it is the answer.
The cross of Christ remains the greatest display of the power and wisdom of the almighty God. Let’s return to the cross. That is where the power and influence comes. Spiritual power is not an influence, it is focus. You have no business attending a programme that is capable of distracting you. If such a programme does not bring you closer to the cross, it will derail you. Any time you stray from the cross, you stray away from power.
The greatest display of grace is the cross of Christ. Everybody wants to see the glory but no one wants to go beyond the camp. On the cross when the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ dropped on the ground, there was a shaking, a powerful earthquake; the greatest spiritual power was released on that day. It was so powerful that sheol shook; the souls of the Old Testament saints that were locked up there were released. They walked physically on the streets of Jerusalem. Which other influence do you need?
You move away from the cross, you cannot be a disciple of Christ. The Church stopped producing disciples because she started moving away from the cross.
The greatest display of the glory of God is the cross of Christ. When the veil that separated the holy place from the holy of holies was torn to shreds, the implication is that we now have access to the holiest place where the glory of God resides.
