We thank God for helping us through this fasting and praying program. We thank him for his sustaining grace. We thank God for keeping our world in perfect peace. The most important times we spend in this side of heaven are the times we spent in God’s presence. When we get to heaven, we will realize that the best investments were on things that have to do with the kingdom of God while we were here. The devil knows this and that is why he keeps people busy chasing all manner of things while missing the real thing.
Spiritual power is focus. “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed” (Psa.34:5). Power is focus in the realm of the spirit, so anything that takes your focus away from the revealed will of God, from the light and presence of God is your greatest enemy. If we recognize that then we will get our priorities right because one of the things that man lost in Eden is the ability to make valid decisions especially spiritual decisions. Man acquired a diseased perception of reality incapable of choosing right.
We, therefore, need to get God involved in everything we do. That is wisdom. We should seek his face, seek him above all else and become God chasers. We need to focus on things that really matter.
When Jesus paid a visit to the home of Mary and Martha, Martha was all over the place, busy fixing things. This by itself is not wrong but Mary was at the feet of Christ. When Martha drew the attention of Jesus to this, Jesus said, No, Martha, you have made the wrong decision. Mary has chosen the right thing which is the presence of God where there is fullness of joy. Do not allow anything take you away from the presence of God. You must prioritize.
The Bible says, seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, not seek ye the kingdom of God and its righteousness. A lot of people are actually seeking God but seeking other things first while putting God as an addendum in the list of their pursuits. If he is not the Lord in all, then he is not the Lord at all. We must learn to put him first in everything we do.
Pray –
- Everlasting, and most merciful Father, I worship and adore you. Grant me the grace to always put you first in all that I do, so that the things the world seeks will pursue me in Jesus’ name, amen.
