THE ANOINTED STONE I

Anytime you are trying to find meaning to the contradictions in life, get into the presence of God. The easiest way to do so is through deep praise and worship. It releases the presence of God very cheaply because God inhabits the praises of his people (Psa. 22:3).

“And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

1 Samuel 17:26, KJV

Someone might say but this is hate speech! When you are dealing with a goliath, you cannot afford to be gentle. Goliath is a strongman, a giant, a personification of everything that challenges what God represents in your life. It challenges your testimony. It challenges the very essence of your faith. It challenges the armies of the living God, the God of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The battle facing believers is fought in several realms; it is not just a physical battle. There is the psychological aspect of this warfare. That is why the war of words or speech is part of the battle. If you study the exchange of words between David and Goliath, you will understand this better.

When David looked at Goliath, he was not seeing the giant in him, he was not seeing the sophisticated armory, weapons of warfare that he adorned himself with. That was what other very well skilled and trained soldiers of Israel saw, (including the king of Israel), and became afraid. If you go by sight, you will not be able to defeat your goliath. You must see beyond the height, the build, the weapons and armory of a goliath in order to be able to dismantle and demystify it. So, in the realm of the mind (psychological realm) where the first battle was fought, David demystified Goliath. What made him so angry were the tantrums of Goliath.

You cannot change what you tolerate. As long as you tolerate it, you have been conquered. You need to get up. Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God? David asked. I don’t know the uncircumcised Philistine that has stolen your joy and starring at you daily. The height of the goliath commands attention and demands worship.

David took the battle to another level. May you learn to take your battles to another level in the mighty name of Jesus. May you learn to escalate it to the highest level; the highest level is the level of divinity. That was what David did. Once you take it to that level, in the realm of the mind, something happens to you. It is no longer about you. Fear is a weapon of psychological warfare . The devil uses it a lot against Christians. Propaganda is a weapon of warfare; it creates fear – false evidence appearing real. Anything that defeats you in the mind has conquered you.

David was not looking at the size of Goliath, he was looking at the size of the God of Israel that Goliath has risen against. There is a level of intervention that nobody can experience until you have learnt to connect to God as the Father. If you ever had the opportunity of having a good earthly father, then, it will be easier for you to understand this. I had one though only for nine years. I understood what it means to be a father. Until you can connect to God as your Father and you understand who he is, and his capabilities, you may not be able to take down any goliath.
