QUALITIES OF THOSE WHO CHASE GOD
4. They put God first.
If you chase God, he will always be ahead of you; what you chase will always be ahead of you and that is what people see first. The moment you decide to be a God chaser, it is no longer your will, it is his will. He determines everything. I worked very closely with my Lawn tennis coach so I know the power of the coach. He gives very simple instructions which if you follow, you will succeed. When I won the gold medal in my state many years back, he was promoted but I was the one that was celebrated. If you follow the instructions of the coach, you will become an instant hit. If God is your Coach, it is in your best interest to play according to his instructions as contained in his word.
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple”.Psalm 27:4, KJV
It is a Psalm of a passionate worshipper, a Psalm of the presence of God. What is that thing that is uppermost in your heart? What are you seeking? Spiritual power is focus. The devil knows this and that is why he gives people options and the person becomes a swinging pendulum. The devil enjoys it that way. Divine elevation guarantees that God would have dealt with all the enemies, so the enemy is not the problem. The problem is your focus. Are you a ‘one thing’ person? What is the thing that is uppermost in your heart? David was not a visitor in the house of the Lord, he was a dweller. He was addicted to God’s presence. You cannot be addicted to the presence of God and be far from his presents. Today, people want the presents without the presence. That is an anomaly.
Pray –
- Lord, grant me the grace to put you first. Organize my life in such a way that I will always put you first in everything that I do. Let it be my desire, let it be my will to do your will. Grant me this grace in Jesus’ name.
5. They are very purposeful.
Ten times a day David went to the temple; seven out of which he worshipped God and said this is so that he might fulfil his vow. He was very purposeful. That was how he became God’s favourite. Though he was not perfect, David was a true worshipper of a perfect God.
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself”.Daniel 1:8, KJV
Daniel decided not to defile himself with the food from the king’s table, very purposeful. Defilement is real; it leads to disrobement and leads people into unnecessary battles and attacks. Daniel and his friends were ten times better than their peers who ate the kings food. When you are disrobed, you lose God’s cover, attacks become inevitable, and the enemy begins to have an upper hand. May that not happen in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Purpose in your heart that you are not going to be defiled.
Pray –
- Father, help me to be purposeful. Do not allow me to be defiled. Cleanse me through the blood of your dear Son, Jesus Christ and grant me the grace to break away from anything that defiles and damns. Help me to pursue purity. Help me to align with your will and make me ten times better in everything in the mighty name of Jesus.
