Whenever you give, ensure that you are humble, only very few people know how to give in humility. One of the best things that God did for me is that I didn’t just crash into ministry. He helped me to enter into deep serious covenant before I took off. I stand to testify that God is faithful. A lot of people set out rightly but along the way, because of the challenges of ministry, they get things mixed up and it is so easy to fall into idolatry. You will miss it if you judge by the standards of man; you can even be in ministry and miss God. If you have not heard God clearly, please don’t get into ministry.
Secondly, if you are not ready to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit, don’t bother because you will end up in idolatry and you will raise up idolaters. People are not ready to humble themselves in giving and in taking instructions. When you refuse to obey an usher in the Church (who happens to be an angel delegated with full authority of that Church or ministry at that point in time), you are disobedient. When you do that, your r (resistance) is already at infinity. You will go back home with nothing and if you are not careful, you will go back home with a knock.
Study Ezek. 14 where the elders of Israel went to seek God with idols in their heart. The greatest idol is the idolatry of self which is pride. ‘Who are you to tell me?’ It is a privilege to give to God. Where there is complete consecration, it is a privilege to connect to God and give with the right spirit. That is the real seed. That is the sacrifice that God accepts. Nobody can out give God, he does not need your money. There is nothing you can give to God that he didn’t give you so why behave as if you are the owner?
Ignorance also constitutes a very big resistance to the move of God. It can reduce power to zero. Ignorance makes people to do stupid things. Ignorance magnifies the value of resistance. Every self seeker is a great loser because of idolatry of self. Who are you that God did not make you? What have you that God did not give you? So why behave as if you are the owner? A lot of people don’t believe that God exists despite the fact that they go to Church.
There is no repentance without returning. The prodigal son did not continue to stay with pigs after his repentance. Those who return are those who are welcome, clean, fully restored and positioned for the necessary blessing. They enter into their inheritance where they rightly belong. When the prodigal son came to his senses and returned, his father went to receive him.
The average person that goes to Church today is very far from God. The message of prosperity did not help matters because it confuses people about what true success is. It makes people think that they have arrived when they have not started. You don’t need to be holy before you can accumulate money; the richest people in the world today are not holy.
The law of sowing and reaping is universal. People can sow their seed and life into hell. You must receive the seed that God himself sowed – Jesus Christ, who said, “learn of me” (Matt 11:29). In other words, learn to be like me. Deny self. Today, the Church is full of members, where are the disciples of Jesus Christ (disciplined followers of Christ)?
”If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV
Turn away from wickedness and God will heal the land. The healing of the land is a product of the repentance of the Church, nothing more. Giving to the Church is not wrong. Jesus said, give and it shall be given unto you, good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom (Luke 6:38). But there is a right way to give and a wrong way to give. The missing point is that even before you give, you need to become a worshipper. What we have today are workers, those who have climbed the ecclesiastical ladder without proper consecration. And once you climb the ecclesiastical ladder without being a worshipper, you may never be one.
