1. Flee from Sin CONT’D.
Psa. 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” That is why the starting point when things go wrong is to look inwards. Get it right in the garden of your heart. Kill every ‘snake’ there and put the blood of Jesus as an anti-snake so that your prayers will fly and your spiritual effort be not wasted. A lot of spiritual efforts today are wasted because of ignorance. May that not be your portion in Jesus name. A lot of people embark on long fast with bitterness and unforgiveness in their hearts. They are only embarking on hunger strike. God is not moved by the prayer of the ungodly, in fact, it is an abomination before God (Prov. 15:8). This is another dimension of waste. You must bid sin goodbye. When God says you should forgive, it is because it is in your best interest to do so. Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. Are you holding anyone in unforgiveness? Do yourself a favour, release that person right now that your prayer be not hindered.
2. Pride.
You must avoid pride like a plague. It is a vertical sin. Pride is a vertical sin because it involves trying to play God. It is an idolatry of self. It is much more in abundance today even in the Church. It is a very cheap sin. You must work on yourself and ensure that you are not proud.
“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”James 4:7, KJV
Why does God resist the proud? It is because all worship must be unto Jehovah. Remember that idolatry is perversion of worship; pride is the idolatry of self. There are so many dimensions of pride.
Pray –
- Father, I am sorry in any way that there is any trace of pride in me. Please wipe it away. I surrender completely to your will. I enthrone you as the almighty. I enthrone you as the only God to worship. Please make me a true worshipper all the days of my life in the name of Jesus.
- Ancient of days, grant me grace to worship you in spirit and in truth. Thank you. Through you, I shall do valiantly.
- Grant me grace to humble myself before you so that you can accept me. Deliver me from the cheap and slippery path of pride.
- Make me a true worshipper in spirit and in truth, I pray in Jesus name.
