Psalm 71
Verse 1, “In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion”.
This again is a complete prayer. If you pray this prayer from the depth of your heart and heaven responds with ‘amen’, then, you are made. However, remember that in the place of prayer, God listens more to your heart than to your words. If what you are saying in your heart contradicts what you are saying with your lips, then God will not take it lightly. He calls it, hypocrisy. There is judgment for hypocrisy.
Prayer is not a mechanical thing. Prayer is a heart issue. If your heart is not right, then, don’t bother to pray, don’t fast. God is not moved by your hunger strike, he is not even moved by our cries, he is moved by the quality of your connection and that connection is Faith – trusting God no matter how, no matter the feelings knowing that this God is the solution. No plan B, no alternative. There is a wonderful hymn my mother taught me a long time ago that I love so much:
Father, I stretch my hand to thee, No other help I know; If thou withdraw thyself from me, Ah! Wither shall I go? I do believe, I do believe that Jesus died for me, and through his blood his precious blood, I shall from sin be free.
“Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.”Psalm 71:2-4, KJV
Who in this clime does not have something to escape from? Who in this clime does not need deliverance? Deliverance is a special package from the almighty; it is the children’s bread. But a lot of preachers do not even believe that there is need for deliverance. Deliverance is so important that Jesus made it part of the model prayer. You must pray ‘deliver us from evil’ daily. Nobody is insulated from the battle of the ages that is raging over the soul of man.
Make a list of the things you wish to escape from. Everything that has held you down to this point, you are going to escape from them all in the name of Jesus. None of them shall pursue you into the new year in the mighty name of Jesus.
Pray –
- Father, cause me to escape from lying, cheating, sin, self, barrenness, unfruitfulness, poverty, scarcity, lack, disease, death, hell, from evil altars. Cause me to escape from ‘Egypt’. Cause me to escape from the hardship in this land.
- Father, cause me to escape the contradictions that are in the world today. Cause me to escape from the wiles and lies of the devil. Cause me to escape the machinations of the devil in the name of Jesus.
- Father, cause me to escape the defilement that is in the environment. Cause me to escape from anything that binds, anything that hinders and from anything that fetters.
- Cause me to escape from anything that does not want me to be all that God wants me to be. Cause me to escape anything that the devil has designed to rubbish my testimony in the mighty name of Jesus.
- Father, cause me to escape the hardship in this land and from the contradictions that are in the world.
- Cause me to escape the deceptions, the delusions in the world today in the name of Jesus.
- Cause me to escape from the lies, from the damnation in the world in the name of Jesus.
- Father, cause me to escape the antics of the antichrist. Cause me to escape from every trap and every snare in the name of Jesus.
