THE CROSS: A SYMBOL OF DOMINION OVER THE FLESH V
1 Cor. 3:3-4, “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul, and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?” Every manifestation of carnality is the work of the flesh. Apostle Paul was writing to the Church and not unbelievers. All divisions in the Church are as a result of the flesh. Christ has done his part, we need to apply it. THE CROSS: A SYMBOL OF DOMINION OVER THE FLESH IV
Rom. 7 reveals Paul’s personal struggle with the flesh. Verse 15, “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.” Several times, we find ourselves in such position struggling with a power that wants to influence us to do the wrong thing. THE CROSS: A SYMBOL OF DOMINION OVER THE FLESH II
Self has to do with ‘I’, the flesh is when ‘I’ puts on flesh. It is an extension of the rebellious will of man; man’s will in union with the will of the snake in the garden. Gal. 5:24, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” The cross is the place where the flesh is crucified. Without the crucifixion of flesh, the works of the flesh will continue to manifest. What actually fuels the works of the flesh is LUST; lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and pride of life introduced in the Garden of Eden. The woman saw, touched, perceived…
