DOMINION BY THE THUNDER OF HIS POWER (PART 2) – RELEASING THE THUNDER OF HIS POWER

We had earlier established that it takes the power of God for the enemy to bow. This, we saw, in Psalm 66:3, “Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee”. At times, it pays to just sit back and meditate on the almightiness of God. It is something you need to do more often because when you focus on the almightiness of God, you will draw strength; your faith will rise and before long, you will say like Caleb, “Give me this mountain”. One of the things the enemy uses to harass people is intimidation, so you counter fear with faith. When you focus on the almightiness of God, faith will rise in you and fear will evaporate.

If you meditate on the word ‘thunder’, you will notice that it is a very powerful phenomenon when combined with power – the thunder of God’s power. Thunder is swift in operation, within seconds, thunder can cause devastating destructions. As we discuss about the thunder of God’s power, be prepared for things that will be settled on a once and for all basis in your life speedily. There are certain things that the enemy has constructed and entrenched and even celebrated as a done deal that only the thunder of God’s power can undo. Dominion is by the thunder of his power. Job 26:13-14 says, “By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand”?

The power of God is a combination of a number of things. In that power, there is wisdom mingled with power and with grace. The beautiful thing about the power of God is that it is infinite; the power of God is infinity raised to power infinity over zero. Some of the characteristics of the power of God is that it is self-generating, it is self-sustaining and self-perpetuating. It is not a one-off thing. When God steps into your situation, all you need do is to start jubilating because he is going to settle it, he is about to do a thorough job of it.

The word ‘garnished’ in the scripture above reveals that there is the garnishing aspect of the power of God. The presence of the Holy Spirit brings transformation. The word ‘garnish’ means to add value, to decorate, to beautify. There are some lives which are tasteless that the Holy Spirit will enhance. When the Holy Spirit moves over and takes over your life, there will be taste where hitherto, there was none, there will be beauty where once were ashes, there will be transformation where there was none and there will be colour where there was none. The most garnished place is heaven by his spirit. The Holy Spirit is not only the spirit of transformation but also the spirit of creativity. The Holy Spirit gives colour to your life, the beauty of God is about to be released in your life. If you remove colour, there will be darkness, darkness is terrible and that is what the devil specializes in doing. Whenever he draws the curtain of darkness, you are automatically excluded from the region of light and the blessings that light gives including the illumination that light brings. Without light, there will be no colour. From today, your life ceases to be a monochrome, in the name of Jesus, your life will be full of colour.

The happiest people on earth should be those that know their God but the question is, are they? If, after you have found God, you are still searching for something else like colour, joy, recognition, then watch it. It could very well be that you have not found the God who created the heavens and the earth because the God that created the heavens is the God of transformation that garnished the heavens by his spirit and that spirit is the spirit of joy, peace, wisdom, understanding and transformation. When you find him, you have found something precious.
