2020/2021 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 20C (COVENANT OF INFINITE GRACE)
One of my secrets is that after praying all I need to pray and have no more prayer points, I just pray grace. Try this and you will be amazed at the result. This is because whenever you pray grace, you cannot pray amiss.
However, I need to sound a note of warning. Grace is never a licence to sin as some people present it to be. Such people have succeeded in stretching grace out of context. Yes, grace is an unmerited favour from God but it is never a licence to live anyhow. It does not also suggest what some people have made their theology – the theology of once saved, saved forever regardless of what you do. This is not the whole counsel of God. It is not the truth otherwise there will not be anything like backsliding. Otherwise you will not have all the warnings from the apostles in the New Testament.
The unfortunate thing that has crept into the Church is that a lot of ministers are preaching easy believism. They have taken the doctrine of grace out of context. One day I heard one of such preachers on the television set saying that ‘Christianity is not right living but right believing’. Nothing can be farther from the truth. It is when people begin to stretch grace that they produce such an error. That was not what Jesus preached. That is not the whole counsel of God. That was not what the apostles preached either. Living right and grace should go together, they are not mutually exclusive. If your right believing is not producing right living, what is the need? Even demons believe and they tremble. Right believing that produces right living is true Christianity.
Unfortunately, this is the type of message that a lot of people prefer to hear. They don’t like it when preachers talk about sin. That preachers don’t talk about sin does not mean it is no longer in existence. You must deal with sin before it deals with you. You must deal with sin on a daily basis. May the Lord deliver us from error in the mighty name of Jesus. John 1: 8-9 says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not is us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We have our will to exercise in doing the right thing. There was never a time that God took over your will. Grace does not imply that God has usurped your will. No! Grace does not violate God’s nature of holiness, righteousness and wisdom.
Heb. 12:14-15, “Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” Grace is an empowerment for you to live above sin and never a licence to sin. There is a definition of grace that I love – GRACE – God’s richest ability committed eternally to me. God has committed the ability for me to always think right, exercise my will in making right decisions and choices. Decision determines everything. May we have this right perspective in the name of Jesus.
PRAY –
- Heavenly Father I worship and adore you. I ask you to grant me the grace to always believe right, talk right, and live right all the days of my life in Jesus name. Amen.
