”That year Isaac’s crops were tremendous – 100 times the grain he sowed. For Jehovah blessed him. He was soon a man of great wealth, and became richer and richer. He had large flocks of sheep and goats, great herds of cattle, and many servants. And the Philistines became jealous of him.” (Gen. 26:12 – 14 TLB)
The scripture above succinctly depicts the prosperity of Isaac. At a time of severe famine, God prospered Isaac so much that the Philistines became envious of him. The greatest need at a time of famine is divine connection (direction). If Isaac was not properly connected to the God of his father Abraham, Jehovah the Living God, he would have gone down to Egypt
Today, many precious souls migrate to Egypt in search of greener pastures, under severe economic pressure, due to lack of Divine direction. Every movement to Egypt is a demotion. Egypt depicts slavery, bondage, captivity, false religion, idolatry, etc. God instructs His children today like He instructed Isaac ”do not go to Egypt.”
Just as the prosperity of Abraham was predicated on complete obedience to Divine instructions, the prosperity of Isaac also was based on his complete obedience to Divine instructions.
According to Galatians 3:7, every truly born again christian is a child of Abraham. Place more value on your relationship with God. Seek to be complete in obedience. God wants you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers (III John 2)
Even in the time of severe famine, the easiest thing God can do for you is to transform your desert to a well-watered garden. May the LORD empower you to be richer and richer; and may He increase your capacity for doing good in Jesus Name. But, may you never drink the wine of success that will send you to Egypt in Jesus Name.
