DOMINION OVER INSULTS

” And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand, and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

And they spit upon him and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

And after that they had mocked him, and put his robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.” (matthew 27:29-31 KJV)

Insults come as a result of the deprivity of human heart. According to Jeremiah: 17:9

”The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked who can know it?”

The soldiers insulted Jesus in many ways, finally spitting at him, why? Jesus went to the cross though He did not have any heart problem. He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.

Psalm 36:1-4 aptly describes carnal man’s heart condition. Verse 4 states:

”He deviseth mischief upon his bed, he setteth himself in a way that is not good: he abhoreth not evil.”

In what ways do we humiliate people and try to make them look small? Why do we behave that way? How can we overcome this weakness? See 2 Corinthians 5:17, Philippians 2:3, 1 John 1:7

You may not physically spit on people, but have you ever gossiped, slandered, said or done anything to humiliate or hurt anyone? Jesus under went humiliation of being spat at in order to redeem our carnal heart. Have you been an object of ridicule in anyway? Learn to send every insult to the cross. Cheer up. After the mockery, comes the glory. The cross of Christ is a symbol of comprehensive dominion over sin, self, satan and all his agents. In spite of all the insults or should I say because of it, Jesus perfectly fulfilled His ministry on earth. You will fulfill yours in Jesus Name.

A C T I O N P O I N T

Look inwards. Open your heart to the searchlight of the Holy Spirit. Invite Jesus into the innermost chambers of your heart.

P R A Y E R

Repent of any unconfessed sin in your life. Ask the LORD to forgive you with respect to any gossip, slander, insult, etc. Appropriate the cleansing ministry of the Blood of Jesus Christ. Receive cleansing. Ask for Holy Ghost empowerment to walk in dominion over insults. Celebrate Jesus for the finished work on the cross of calvary.
