BLESSED BEYOND CURSE (PART 1)
B
Psa. 16:1-6
“Preserver me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; but to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places, yea, I have a goodly heritage.” The Living Bible calls it ‘a wonderful inheritance”.
The greatest thing a Father can bestow to his son is an inheritance. Inheritance is reserved for sons. One of the ways to differentiate a child from a son is that children go for toys but sons go for inheritance. Anyone who is predisposed to collection of toys is a child and not a son; he has not matured and so cannot handle inheritance. Today, there are so many overgrown babies, some in their seventies. It does not respect the degrees one has. How do you identify babies? A baby is a consumer and has a ‘give me’ mentality. We need to be very careful in our walk with God as Christians; there is the tendency for people to pursue toys and miss inheritance. Many pastors are under pressure and have therefore stopped preparing people for inheritance but for this earth; producing earth bound Christians. For such Christians, everything is about ‘give me so that I can consume it’ just like the prodigal son. It takes character to maintain inheritance.
When you wake up every morning, ensure that you declare this – I have a wonderful inheritance. Go for inheritance, don’t pursue toys and miss the inheritance you have in Christ. it is unfortunate that it is the children of this world that know how to celebrate what they have and who they are. While Christians who have a wonderful inheritance above anything you can think of are dropping their inheritance in order to pursue shadows. This is because they don’t know how to celebrate what they have. It is unfortunate!
Pray – Lord, thank you for the wonderful inheritance you have given us in Christ, blessed be your name. Thank you so much, heavenly Father, I give you all the glory. In any way that I have not celebrated my relationship with you, in any way, that I have not celebrated what you have given me, in any way that I have not magnified your name in my life, I am sorry. Please forgive me and help me, Lord, to place more value on what you have done for me and to celebrate you all the days of my life in the name of Jesus. Thank you, faithful God, in Jesus name.
