BLESSED BEYOND CURSE (PART 6G) – HEALING OF EVIL FAMILY PATTERN

We, by the grace of God, have a wonderful inheritance in Christ. The Bible says, “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” ‘New creature’ means new specie of human beings, old things have passed away and all things have become new. Does this contradict what we have said earlier in this write up about evil inheritance? No! This is one of the scriptures that people love to throw up very easily. If you read the preceding verse, you will realize that it is talking about spiritual rebirth that goes with salvation. The very moment you vote for Christ, truly repent, and give your life to Christ, your spirit being is changed. The Holy Spirit comes in but you still remain a babe. It is in the spirit that there has been a renewal. But man is a spirit being; he has a soul that dwells in a body. What happens to the body? What happens to the soul? There is still a working out of your salvation, it is just like an enrolment in the university, it is not graduation. As you begin to surrender; as you begin to yield and feed the spirit man, it begins to grow; the one you feed is the one that gets fortified and grows. But what happens? People give their lives to Christ and instead of feeding the spirit man, they feed the flesh and fail to break away from Egypt, they hold onto ‘Agag’ instead of destroying ‘Agag’ so they end up like Saul. This is where the problem lies.

The average African Christian wants to enjoy the two worlds – although you have given your life to Christ, tradition must still be done. You still recognize the priesthood of idolatry; you celebrate what you should renounce. The two cannot go together. Evil inheritance, wonderful inheritance, which one will you choose. You want to make it to the Promised Land but you still don’t want to leave Egypt. There is what is called bridge burning. This is no longer being emphasized. When you give your life to Christ, burn the bridge. No turning back. Begin to feed on the word of God, strengthen and consolidate the spirit man so that when Mr flesh arises, you will crush it by saying ‘Jesus has taken over, I can no longer eat swine’s food, I am a brand new person’.

PRAY:- Heavenly father I worship you. I thank you for the wonderful inheritance you have for me in Christ. Grant me the grace to utterly destroy any evil inheritance capable of making me not to enter the promised land. I depend solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross at calvary, to finish well and to finish strong in Christ, to make heaven at last. I proclaim I am blessed beyond curse.
