THE SEVEN DISPENSATIONS 1B
Eph. 1:7-10, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: that in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.”
God, in his infinite wisdom, had everything about man’s history for the whole of eternity already planned from the beginning and that is why he is the God who knows the end from the beginning. Nothing happens by chance. There is absolutely nothing that happened or that is happening that is not known to God. He is Omniscient. The above scripture talks about the manifestation of the fullness of time.
A dispensation can simply be defined as a moral period in human history that usually ends with judgment. In every dispensation, God deals with man in a peculiar way. Each dispensation is marked by God’s commandment, covenant, man’s failure, God’s judgment, redemption, promise and plan. God gives man a blueprint on how to operate but in each of these dispensations, you will discover that man will of necessity, fail. Man, by nature, is a covenant breaker. In response, God releases judgment on man. Anyone who knows only the mercy nature of God without knowing the other side of his nature does not truly know him.
The ways of God are the ways of mercy and truth. That is the way of the cross: mercy is horizontal while truth is vertical. It is at the cross that mercy and truth meet together. Whenever we go to the cross, one of the things we must learn to exchange is our humanity for his divinity because it is at the cross that divinity meets humanity. The mercy side of God overlooks sin but the truth side of God hates and judges sin. Sin is dangerous. Dispensationally, God has always judged sin because he is immutable. If you don’t have the revelation of this dimension of God, then, you don’t really know God. Whoever preaches that grace is a licence to sin does not truly understand the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Man’s whole history has been less than seven thousand years. This is just like few days in God’s eternal plan. Scientists will tell you all manner of things, they are so confused. Psa. 90:4 says, “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.” How long did it take God to create the earth?
The only purpose of man on earth is to seek, serve, worship God and prepare for eternity. Satan also has his own purpose. Many a time, instead of aligning with the purpose of God, man chooses to align with Lucifer’s purpose. The purpose of Lucifer is always at variance with the purpose of God because he is the opposer.
PRAY
- Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you. I ask you to grant me the grace to accurately discern the time and season that I may apply my heart to wisdom in Jesus name. Amen.
