2020/2021 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 11C (THE REVELATIONS OF CHRIST I)

2. Jesus is our mediator CONT’D.
What is the nature of Christ? People celebrate his title and not his nature. That is why many ministries use lion and the eagle as their emblems. Revelations 5:13-14 states; “And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.” Notice that it was not the lion that was worshipped, it was the Lamb. In the previous verses (Rev 5:1-6), John, the beloved saw a book written and sealed with seven seals and there was no nobody to open it. As he was wept an elder told him, weep not, behold the lion of the tribe of Judah, the seed of Jesse has prevailed to open the book and to remove the seven seals thereof.

He was expecting a lion but what did he see? A lamb that was slain. Who was worshipped at the end of the day? The Lamb. The lion is only a title. Many people worship the title and not the nature. The Lamb is the nature of Christ. Without the nature of the lamb, he would not have fulfilled his ministry. What is his nature? Meekness and Purity. When the dove descended on the lamb (after the water baptism of Jesus) it never departed. May the dove find a resting place in you in Jesus name.

I strongly believe that the right symbols the church should be using are the lamb, the dove and the cross. You cannot find any of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in a lion or an eagle. Prov 28:1 states; “the wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion”. Boldness does not necessarily make you righteous but righteousness makes you bold. May we understand that without the cross, no one can make it to heaven. Jesus humbled himself to the point of dying on the cross to pave the way for us. Stripping himself of divinity, God became man in other to take the sin of man. As a result of his humility Phil 2:9 states “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” In God’s kingdom the way up is down. Jesus is our mediator because he humbled himself to shed his blood on the cross. The blood of Jesus speaks for us.

PRAY

  • Lift up your hands and say Father I thank you. I ask you to graciously reveal Jesus as mediator to me. Open my eyes to the mediatory role that your son displayed on the cross. Father, help me to be a partaker of all the covenant blessings, rights and priviledges of the death, burial and resurrection of your dear son Jesus Christ.
