2020/2021 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 11B (THE REVELATIONS OF CHRIST I)
2. Jesus is our mediator.
Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant. He is not only our mediator but our advocate. Hebrews 12:24 “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Jesus is the mediator of a new covenant. It is through the shedding of his blood that he mediates for us. The new covenant is signed and sealed with his blood. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel, it speaks better things than the blood of bulls. The blood of Abel speaks vengeance, animal blood cannot remit sin. The blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth remits sin. According to Hebrews 9:22, without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. This should answer people who erroneously believe that baptism remits sin. Baptism is only a way you identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just as you are immersed in water, you are buried with Christ, as you rise up, you resurrect unto newness of life. If you go in as a dry sinner, you come out as a wet sinner.
Hebrews 12:22-24 The blood of Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant. The new covenant is much better than the old covenant. Some people have the old covenant mentality whereas there is so much to download from the new covenant. If the old covenant was good enough, there would not have been any need for a new one. There would not have been need for God to send his son Jesus to shed his blood. The revelation of what Jesus did for us on the cross helps us tap into the blessings of the new covenant. The blood of Jesus Christ is one of the most potent weapons of spiritual warfare. The anointing destroys yokes but the blood of Jesus destroys the yoker.
We overcome by the blood of the lamb, that is why if you really want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, there is no running away from taking up the cross, going to the cross on daily basis. If you want to be a strong Christian, you must be a cross carrying Christian on daily basis. The church started getting weaker and weaker as the message of the cross was continually de-emphasized. It is on the cross that Mr. Self and all the works of the flesh are crucified. Many deliverance issues linger because of the works of the flesh. You cast out demons but you cannot cast out the works of the flesh. The only way to deal with the flesh is to crucify it. The crucified life is the way of the cross. That is the bride’s message. Unfortunately only very few preachers still preach it. It is the message that prepares you for heaven. Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me” Matt 16:24. When we go to the cross, may we always appropriate what Christ has done for us. Jesus said in Matt 11:28-29, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls”. Becoming like Christ is the whole essence of discipleship. A disciple is a disciplined follower of Christ.
