THE SECRET OF ABUNDANT LIFE

Text: 2 Pet. 1:2-9

Partnership with the Holy Spirit presupposes that you know him and that he is not only in you but with you and upon you. There are three dimensions of the move of the Holy Spirit that you need to know – first is the spirit within; this is the spirit that brings transformation and fruits. Secondly, the spirit with you; this is the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit and thirdly, the spirit of God upon; this is what people refer to as anointing, it is for exploits. It is the spirit that comes upon you for specific manifestations. In the Old Testament, the spirit of God usually came upon people for specific manifestations, a typical example is Samson. But we are people born in due season. We have the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit and that is why we need to cultivate friendship with him. He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. The Holy Spirit understands you so much and he is the least critical of you. That is why you need to fall in love with him.

Verse 2 – “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.” (KJV). Pray – Lord, let your grace and peace be multiplied in every facet of my life in the name of Jesus. Grant me and every member of my family grace and peace without measure to overflow dimension this year, take us to the overflow dimension of your grace and peace in Jesus name.

Take note that what brings multiplication of grace and peace is the knowledge of our God and Jesus Christ. That is the secret of abundant life. John 17:3 says, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” Knowledge of God and Jesus Christ is what gives peace and stability in life and it is the secret of abundant life. This understanding should help you to place value on your relationship with this mighty God. Your connection to Jesus Christ is your greatest connection as far as life is concerned, it is your greatest assurance that the life of Christ would flow through you. Anywhere there is a perfect connection, there will be a flow.

Jesus said the thief cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy but I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10. There is no life without connecting with Christ. May we enjoy abundant life to overflow dimension this year in the name of Jesus. Pray – Jesus I thank you that I am connected to you. Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing yourself to me, I ask you mighty God to help me to treasure my relationship with you above every other thing and let the very life of Christ flow through me in the name of Jesus.

Verse 3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” Another translation says, “For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us! (TLB) Divine power is the omnipotent power. Many times, people focus on the negative but it is time for us to begin to focus on what we have in Christ, who we are in Christ and what Christ has done for us – these are the benefits we derive from being connected to him. The secret is knowing God.

When I started having spiritual encounters, I didn’t really know God in spite of the fact that I had read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, but those encounters helped me to dissolve every doubt; to know that Jesus is real and that Jesus is the truth that I have been searching for – Jesus revealed himself to me as the truth and lastly, I had encounter with the Holy Spirit and he put his fire in my hand. Surrendering is in phases. The call was getting stronger and I was at the peak of my career when the Lord asked me to surrender everything. Soon after, I went for a certificate Bible course for one month after which I discovered that my knowledge of God was little. This was in spite of the fact that I was already a minister.

Knowledge of God is in phases and the more you know him, the more you fall in love with him and the more you treasure your relationship with him. I immediately enrolled at a Bible School where I did Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees. I gave it my best. But I didn’t go for certification, I wanted to know God. After I graduated from the Bible School, the Holy Spirit told me to put all the books and everything I learnt aside and enroll in the school of the Holy Ghost. I am still in that school, I am yet to graduate. I testify that the journey is getting sweeter by the day. Every word of God that you are able to apply supersedes every earthly wisdom. Your life will get better as a result of your knowledge of God. Remember that knowledge is not power unless it can fully be utilized in its refined state of applied wisdom. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of life. Anywhere the Holy Spirit is at work, there will be signs, wonders, healings, restoration. The rich young man that came to Jesus to ask for what to do to inherit eternal life went away sad because he could not do what Jesus asked him to do. His wealth had become his god.

Eternal life is not something you die to inherit, it is something you live with here – everywhere you go you will produce fruits. Pray – Lord, I want to know you better so that I can live a truly good life, help me to receive from you everything I need to live a truly good life, thank you, faithful God, in Jesus name.

Lord I thank you for the rich and wonderful blessings you have promised to bestow upon those that know you. I worship and adore you and Lord I ask for the multiplication of these rich and wonderful blessings in my life. Jesus, I ask you for evidence of rich and wonderful blessings in every area of my life. Thank you, mighty God, in Jesus name.
