2020/2021 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 28B (FIRE ON THE ALTAR)

Lev. 6:12-13

“Meanwhile, the fire on the altar must be kept burning – it must not go out. The priest shall put on fresh wood each morning, and lay the daily burnt offering on it, and burn the fat of the daily peace offering. The fire must be kept burning upon the altar continually. It must never go out” (TLB).

This is God’s divine prescription. In the Old Testament, there was the physical altar and before you can worship God, you needed to get to the altar, have a priest and a sacrifice. In the New Testament God simplified this. 1 Pet. 2:5, ”Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” In the New Testament, a born again Christian is not only an altar, he is a priest and he is a sacrifice (a living sacrifice). The Bible says we are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people (1 Pet 2:9). We are also the temple of the Holy Ghost. There is therefore no excuse; you can offer up an acceptable sacrifice unto God. You need not consult any priest anymore to offer up acceptable sacrifice unto God. What a wonderful privilege! When Jesus died on the cross, the veil that separated the holy place from the holy of holies was completely torn meaning, that there is no more restriction.

Remember that in the tabernacle doctrine, you have to stay at the outer court from where you progress to the holy place. The only person that has access to the holy of holies (and that once in a year) is the chief priest. When he goes into the holy of holies, he was not sure whether he would come out alive and so he had to tie bells around his garment with a rope tied around him so that if the people stopped hearing the sound of the bells, they knew that he was dead and so they would pull him out using the rope. Depart from every appearance of evil. Priests don’t behave anyhow, they don’t eat anyhow, they don’t talk anyhow neither do they act anyhow. Priests are sanctified.

There are three types of people that are sanctified, specially consecrated in Israel with the oil – the priest, the king and the prophet. What is the spirit of prophecy? The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus (Rev 19:10). The new covenant is a wonderful covenant, a wonderful privilege. We are a people born in due season so we have no excuse if we fail. God has already done his part. Are we willing to receive it, believe it, act on it, live it, appropriate it and keep on appropriating it on a daily basis? That is our obligation. Nobody can do it for you. It takes quality decision to really serve God and do his will.

Resistance that leads to disobedience comes from the carnal unregenerated will of man. God does not violate your will. When man fell, what stopped God from wiping out man and recreating? It is because of the special love he has for man. Take note that the sin Lucifer committed was not overt, it was only in his heart that he nurtured it. He was excommunicated. The angels that sympathized with him were also banished. That is why we need to be very careful. If you notice that anyone is going in a wrong direction, just warn the person and run no matter who that person is. It takes quality decision to follow God and it is on a one on one basis. Your will is your deciding self. Remember that every decision has a price. My prayer is that you will never make a wrong decision in your life. It is not the will of God that any should perish but on a daily basis people are dying and going to hell irreversibly. Receive the grace to always make right decisions in Jesus name. Amen.
