One of the most beautiful conditions of the heart is the heart of contentment. Without it, you will have evil concupiscence – lusting after things. 1 Tim. 6:6 says, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Every departing soul goes with only one thing –HOPE. It is either a dead hope or a lively hope. Only those who served the Lord acceptably have a lively hope; they will rendezvous with him in glory.
- Lord, bless my heart with godliness and contentment which is great gain in the mighty name of Jesus. Help me to be contented in the name of Jesus.
John 21:16, “After breakfast Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these others?” (TLB). Peter answered in the affirmative. Jesus’ reply was very instructive. First he said, feed my lambs. Second time, he said take care of my sheep. The love of God will propel you to be a person of his presence. You cannot love God and be passive. What you love is what you chase.
It is possible to know Jesus very much and yet not really love him. That is why Jesus admonished Peter to drop what he was chasing if indeed he loved him. Change your preoccupation. Change your pursuits. Change your paradigm. Become a God seeker. Get involved in God’s business. Be a God chaser. Develop a shepherd’s spirit. Become a fisher of men.
If Jesus were to appear to you right now and calls your name and ask, ‘do you really love me?’ What will be your response?
- Lord, help me to fall in love with you. Help me to love you truly and perfectly. Give me a loving heart, a perfect heart, a shepherd’s heart that loves you. Grant me grace to fall in love over and over again with you.
- Make it impossible for me to substitute this love for anything else. Grant me the grace. I depend on you O God. I ask you to help me.
- You know my areas of weakness; you know my encumbrances, you know the things I need to drop. Help me to drop them. Help me to burn the bridge. Help me to break away from evil relationships. Help me to break away from evil habits and not to rationalize in the name of Jesus Christ.
