2021/2022 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 7E (CONFRONTING IDOLATRY II)

Idolatry is a serious thing in this end-time. There is a modern day idolatry that every child of God needs to be careful about. This idolatry is the worship of money (mammon). Jesus made it very clear; “you cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24). There are places where primitive idolatry is still practiced. In those places, people are still buried alive. Some cultures still spill human blood to service idols. Kidnapping for ritual killings and other wicked acts thrive in those climes. Extreme wickedness is inevitable anywhere you find idolatry. This is partly because the spirit of idolatry is the spirit of pervasion; it makes human beasts out of human beings.

Like cancer, idolatry is an aggressive disease that requires an aggressive treatment. The evil you fail to confront will eventually contaminate and consume you. Unfortunately, there is modern day idolatry in many churches. Pastors should be elders at the gate, custodians of the grund norm of the society, enforcers of righteousness. However, the church has become so worldly, and the world so religious that there is no difference. Worship has been perverted even in the church. If you teach people to give their money before teaching them to fall in love with God with all their heart, you will produce idolaters. Anything you elevate above or place side by side God in your heart has become your idol. Many messages today can be summarized to what Aaron told the children of Israel in the wilderness – Give me your gold, I will make you a god.

Today, we need pastors like Moses, who will come down from the mountain and utterly destroy every golden calf in the church, and restore the true worship of Jehovah the only living God. According to 1 Peter 1:18-19; “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” Money should never be the central focus and bottom line of the church. Error can be in either priority or emphasis. Babylon has invaded the church and taken a lot of God’s precious people captive. The church needs to break away from Babylon. According to Jeremiah 27:18; “if they be prophets, and if the word of the Lord be with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.”

ACTION POINT

• Examine your heart. Is there anything you place side by side or elevate above God in your heart? If so, repent. Ask God to forgive you.

PRAYER

• Renounce every claim of idolatry over your life.
• Use the name of Jesus Christ to overthrow any idol anywhere, working against the purpose of God in your life.
• Rededicate your life to Jesus Christ.
• Ask God to make you a true worshipper.
• Plead the blood of Jesus over your destiny.
