COVENANT OF INFINITE GRACE (A)

God is able to make his grace abound in our lives even unto all sufficiency. We will not lack any of the good things that follow those who love the Lord in Jesus’ name.

This is the seventh day of the covenant prayers. The seventh march is quite significant. When the children of Israel were about to conquer Jericho, they had to go round the city seven days. The seventh day was the most prophetic one. They marched round the city seven times and on the seventh march after the trumpet was blown the wall of Jericho came crashing down. Study Josh. 6:1-27.

Whatever prevents you from being all that God wants you to be shall go down on this seventh march in the name of Jesus. There is an anointing that destroys yokes, there is an anointing that makes battles cheap and turns mountains to rubbles. There is an anointing that destroys strongholds and pulls down fortresses, that anointing is by the grace of God. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of grace.

Grace, today, is being presented with so much error and the effect is alarming. Every error is dangerous enough to derail the purpose of God. The Bible says that it is through knowledge that the just shall be delivered.

The true meaning of Grace

An understanding of grace will help us enter into God’s rest and multifaceted blessings without stress. Just having an understanding of grace will unlock multifaceted blessings in our lives. Conversely, a misunderstanding of grace may lead to conceit, pride, prejudice, delusion, deception, death and ultimate destruction.

The Hebrew word for grace is “Hesed” and it appears 38 times in the Old Testament while the Greek word for grace is “Charis” and it appears about 122 times in the New Testament. One can, therefore, infer that the New Testament is the testament of grace and one will not be wrong. Grace can simply be said to be an expression of God’s love to man in saving and blessing man with blessings that man does not deserve.

In the Old Testament, we see the demonstration of grace in several elections and blessings upon people like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, David, Ruth, Deborah, Samuel, Daniel, Esther and so on.

Rom. 4:4-8, “Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” May God declare us not guilty in Jesus’ name. When God looks down upon us, may he not impute any sin upon us because of our belief in the finished work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Rom. 11:6-7, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.” The greatest display of grace was on the cross of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; the cross is the symbol of grace. The message of grace, therefore, is not complete without the cross. When people de-emphasize the cross and magnify grace, it is in error because the beginning of grace is the cross.

The greatest display of grace is the cross of Christ because it is grace that gives us salvation according to Eph. 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” We are saved by grace and grace alone not by works of righteousness. May we not get into self righteous rule-keeping (trying to obtain righteousness by rule-keeping) in Jesus’ name. Amen
