SANCTIFY YOURSELF 2B
When we get to heaven we will realize that the best times we spent on earth were the times we spent in the presence of God. I believe that the person who caught that revelation the most was David. He treasured the presence of God so much that ten times a day he went into the temple of God. Seven out of these, he spent just worshipping God. David ran a very busy schedule, he was the king of Israel but his status did not debar him. The truth is that each and every one of us gravitates towards what we really pursue. We chase what we love. Tell me what you are chasing and I will tell you what you love. If you love someone, you will create time for that person.
The only thing worth chasing on earth is God. Anyone who is not chasing God is not facing the right direction. God is up. Any other thing you chase is either horizontal or downward. Unfortunately, most people chase lower things. Direction is of utmost important; the direction you face determines your destination. You cannot be facing north and end up in the south. The devil knows this and that is why he loves to divert people away from the right direction.
Some people actually make progress in the wrong direction but every progress in the wrong direction is failure waiting to happen. The only progress which leads to success is the progress in the right direction. Remember that whatever you chase will always be ahead of you.
Elevate your pursuits to higher things; the highest things are the things that are above. Paul said, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth (i.e, not on things that are ephemeral, lower things of this life” (Col. 3:2). We must not set our affection on satisfying the carnal man to the detriment of the spirit man. What you feed is what gets consolidated. The muscle you feed is the one that gets strengthened.
Pray –
- Lord, help me. Make me a God chaser all the days of my life. Is there any way that I am heading in the wrong direction? Please re-direct me. Give me the right focus. Help me to make you my focus in the name of Jesus. Do not allow me to chase the lower things of this world in Jesus’ name.
Whenever we gather to study the word of God, it is for the purpose of direction. I have come to realize that a lot of Christians do not actually know who they are, what they have and what they should be doing at every particular point in time. That is the responsibility of a true shepherd – show the direction. A shepherd who does not know the direction is not a shepherd at all. A shepherd who cannot lead the flock to the owner is a hunter. If you are not leading aright, you are leading astray.
