We are no more strangers. If you don’t know who you are, you will be looking for what you are not. I believe that this identity problem started when man fell in the Garden of Eden.

Think of a perfect man, handmade and crafted by God, fresh, incorruptible; he met a perfect environment made by a perfect God. What happened? The snake entered the garden and sold a dummy. Remember that what brought down Lucifer from heaven was what to be – the five ‘I wills’ of Lucifer. The climax of the ‘I wills’ of Lucifer in Isaiah 14:13-14 is “I will be like the most high”. He came again with that intention into the Garden of Eden when he was not supposed to be there.

The devil is always very strategic in his attacks; he attacked identity. He came very subtly, hath God said? (Gen. 3:1). The devil suggests. God commands! When he got the attention of the woman in the garden, he began his manipulations and then told a lie. He said the moment you eat the fruit, your eye will open and you will be like gods.

This is the greatest problem of those who go to Church today. Most Christians do not know who they are in Christ Jesus, they don’t know what Christ has done for them and what they have in Christ. That is why they want to be like any other Joe out there. They want to be like people of the world. They want to eat what the world eats so that their eyes may be opened and start seeing what they are not supposed to see. The moment the mind of the woman was incubated, delivery was inevitable. Mind what you incubate in your mind. The best time to abort sin is at conception. At the conception stage, the eyes and the ears are involved.

Is there any way the snake has gained access into your mind? You can stop him at the gate. Fence him off. Fence off that man before he destroys your destiny the moment you sense that he is not a child of God. Has man changed? Today, you see some pastors throw away the call of God to take a lower political post. If you don’t know who you are in Christ, you have a long way to go. You cannot treasure what you do not value. What you do not value, you cannot protect, and what you cannot protect has no future.

It is so easy to throw away the precious in exchange for trash. May you not drink the wine of success that will take you away from the presence of God in the mighty name of Jesus. That wine is poison. May your path never cross with that of a ‘snake’ that will beguile you and destroy your destiny in the mighty name of Jesus.
