DOMINION OVER SPIRITUAL TERRORISTS 2C
If you notice that something is taking the place of God in your heart, it is dangerous.
It is not difficult to carry out the check. What are your priorities, your pursuits, your inclinations and your values? What do you value above God in your heart? How much is your God worth? What is your relationship with him worth if it was priced in your heart? When you want to give anything (not just money) to God, how do you feel? Does your heart bubble with excitement? When you want to have a one-on-one with God, how do you feel? How do you treasure the time you spend in your closet with your heavenly Father?
Nobody can answer these questions for you but these are the things that actually reveal a lot about who we really are. There are only two classes of people who go to Church today – the Cain company and the Abel company. Are you in the Cain company or are you in the Abel company? The Cain company is made up of those who are religious infidels. Cain is the father of religious infidelity, the father of idolaters, those who worship God anyhow, throwing things at God.
Abel is a type of those who worship God acceptably. Remember the definition of worship. Worship is not the cool music we play on Sundays neither is it that slow-paced music. Worship is not what you do. Worship is what you live and it goes beyond what you live to who you are. True worship is being so fanatically in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything does not even remotely exist. May we come to that point in the mighty name of Jesus. David was a consummate worshipper. If you miss it in the place of worship, you cannot get it right anywhere else. If you miss it in worship, you cannot get it right in giving.
The problem of the prosperity message today is that people are taught to give before they are made worshippers. So, they begin to give in order to get. Prosperity teachers encourage people to sow a seed. What is the condition of the heart of the one who is sowing the seed? This climaxes to modern day idolatry. If you don’t get it right in the place of worship, you will end up producing modern day idolaters.
This is one of the problems of the Church today; making idolaters out of people who come to God right there in the Church, using God to get things. Most of the people who go to Church today are not looking for a God to worship. They are looking for a God to use, and if possible, a God to worship them.
There is a lot of showmanship in the Church today and these are elements of the fallen man. The fallen man cannot worship God aright because God is a spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus is the truth. We need to get back to the fundamentals otherwise we will just create people who are not better than modern day idolaters whose only preoccupation is money. It is an insult to reduce the worship of God to money. Money is important though because it is not only a measure of value but a store of it.
Some people find it comfortable to give to God when they don’t have much but the moment God blesses them they will begin to rationalize giving God so much. A true worshipper is so fanatically in love with God that the idea of giving God rejects does not even remotely exist. May we get to that level in Jesus’ name.
PRAY –
- Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to empower me by your spirit to be a true worshipper all the days of my life in Jesus’ name, amen.
