DOMINION OVER SPIRITUAL TERRORISTS 2B
Origin of Spiritual Terrorism (Genesis 4)
We can see the origin of terrorism in the first two people who worshipped God: Cain and Abel. Abel was a worshipper who worshipped God acceptably. He brought his best and was accepted. Cain was a casual convenient worshipper who worshipped God unacceptably. And because something was wrong in his heart, something was perverted in his heart, his worship was not accepted. Everything that happens starts in the heart.
Anything that is not gotten right in the heart can never be right. Cain offered rejects which God did not accept. The one who loved God so much with the right attitude of only the best is good enough for God, was accepted. May God help us to get this right in the mighty name of Jesus.
As basic as this is, it is what determines everything in our walk with God. How much is your God worth? What you offer to God is an expression of your worth for him or what you feel he is worth. Today, a lot of people specialize in giving rejects to God while expecting the best from him. It doesn’t work that way. Basically, when God accepted the worship from Abel and rejected the unacceptable worship, there was already perversion in the heart of Cain, he took offence and became jealous, envious and angry.
God cautioned Cain by warning him about the dangerous nature of sin and asked him why he was angry. He went further to say if Cain had done well would he not have been accepted? But, it is very difficult to stop someone who has made up his mind to commit sin from doing so. Until he has committed that sin, he will not rest. This reveals a lot about the spirit of Cain, it is the spirit of don’t teach me, don’t correct me. Even after God corrected and warned Cain about the sin that was lurking in the corner, he did not heed. God saw that Cain was programmed to kill and he tried to pull him out of the brink.
God could have stopped Cain, but God cannot violate your will in order to help you or force you to do his will. Why? This is because part of his nature is that he has given us the will. Your will is your right to choose. When God said, let us make man after our image and likeness, it was part of his sovereign grace. It was from a heart of benevolence; he didn’t want to create a robot. He wanted to create people who will willingly align with his own will. But that right to choose became the banana peel of man. In your walk with God, if you notice that regularly you tend to elevate anything above the love of God in your heart, there is danger. It is a sign that something has gone terribly wrong not just about to go wrong. Please take note of this.
PRAY –
- Heavenly Father, I thank you for making me in your own image and likeness. Thank you for giving me free will (the right to choose). Grant me the grace to always make right decisions in line with your perfect will for my destiny in Jesus’ name, amen.
