2024/2025 OPERATION 18-18 – (NEED FOR INTROSPECTION I)
Whenever the year is coming to an end is a time to really introspect; it is a time to do a self-introspection, a self-examination.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”Psalm 139:23-24, KJV
This is a comprehensive prayer. It is so easy to think that we are alright, spotless and just looking outside for what is not right while ignoring the inwards.
The Psalmist was honest to the point of admitting his faults. David was not a perfect man but he was honest and humble to admit his faults before God. Why did he do that? David was a consummate worshipper; a true worshipper. True worship is falling so fanatically in love with God that the idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. This is a vivid description of David.
We need to bring ourselves to that point in our walk with God. God is love. His love for us is boundless, he displays it in several ways, even in creation when he said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Gen. 1:26A). God displayed love again when man fell. Instead of wiping away the adamic stock, he gave man a second chance through the first messianic prophecy in Gen. 3:15,
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”Genesis 3:15, KJV
God gave man a second chance by sending his Son.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”John 3:16, KJV
We see the manifestation and demonstration of the love of God so much in this. The love of God is boundless, immeasurable.
We find a consummate worshipper in David. He loved God so much that he visits the temple ten times a day; seven times to worship God and three times, he prays. Worship is placement of value. What defines what you chase is the value you place on what you are chasing. If you love God, you will create time for him. If you love God, you will want to be in his presence. If you love him, you will be excited like the Psalmist who said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Psa. 122:1). If you go through Psa. 51, you will notice another dimension of the nature of the Psalmist when he was confronted with his sin, he penned that Psalm from his heart. God responded positively. We must remove every hurt from our heart. You need to conduct an inward search, especially at a time like this when the year is coming to an end. This is the time to look inwards. This is the time to look at the books.
