THE POWER OF RESURRECTION VI
"Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”Romans 8:12-13, KJV
The greatest problem of man is flesh. The moment that flesh is in operation, the spirit departs. What is the antidote to flesh? The cross! It is on the cross that Mr flesh is crucified. That is why in order to be a good disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ, you should first and foremost deny self and then take up the cross daily and follow him (Luke 9:23-24).
I noticed that a lot of Christians do some things in the flesh without the Spirit of God; meanwhile, the Bible says anything done in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:8). Nobody teaches us how to eat three times daily but what happens to the spirit man? How do you feed the spirit man?
When you lift weights and do press ups, you are just strengthening the physical muscles so that you can lift physical weights. It takes spiritual exercise to lift spiritual weights. This is the secret of doing exploits. One of the ways of doing spiritual press up is eating the Word. When next you open the Bible, open it to eat not just to study. It is manna from above.
Whenever the things of God no longer excite you, then know that something has gone terribly wrong. Anytime you don’t have appetite for the things of God, it means that the carnal man has taken over. A lot of people only live for what to eat, what to wear and so on, no spiritual hunger. If you celebrate the power that resurrected Jesus Christ from the grave, don’t forget that that power is in you and the reason why it is in you is for you to be productive.
If you have an issue that has lingered despite your going to Church regularly, take note that the problem is not the place (the Church) but you. Change! Connect properly and see if God will not transform you. Transformation of the world must start from man and it must start from within, it must start from the spirit, the motive. What drives you? That is what will show the direction of your life. What drives you defines your destiny. As many as are led by the Holy Spirit, they are the sons of God (Rom. 8:14). Are you a son of God? The same power that resurrected Jesus Christ from the grave is you. Jesus, the pattern Son is the first fruit of the subsequent fruits, fruits of resurrection.
