CONFRONTING THE AGENTS OF DEVALUATION II

1. The soil is actually the heart. This is one of the deepest revelations from this parable. When prosperity teachers want to teach this passage, they usually take a different direction entirely. They focus on the seed, the thirty, sixty and hundred fold and miss out the better aspect that will produce transformation in lives.
2. The word, not money is the seed. It is devaluation to reduce the word of God to money. If you elevate money above the Word, then you are in serious error. The Bible tells us in Psalm 138:2 that God has elevated his word above all his names. So, why devalue what God himself has elevated? Who are you to devalue God? Who are the agents of devaluation today? Those who are propagating erroneous massages are all over the place. Anywhere you find perversion, you find idolatry and that is why it is so easy to produce idolaters today even in the Church.

Four conditions of the heart are mentioned in this passage and everyone fit into one of these. There is a fifth condition which was not mentioned in the parable of the sower but in the book of Psalms 56:5. Only one out of these heart conditions is perfect.

1. The wayward heart. One of the characteristics of a wayward person is lack of commitment, another is lack of focus, indiscipline, irresponsibility, disobedience, carelessness and so on. They are all over the place, even in the Church. Jesus emphasized the seed that dropped on the way and how evil birds devoured them. The wayward are carriers of the presence of demons. These demons are after the Word especially for those who go to Church. Unfortunately, a lot of Churches today do not have enough fire that can drive demons away. The messages attract the wayward, that is not bad, what is wrong is not being able to impact them enough to bring transformation in their lives. The crime is not in coming the way you are. The crime is in going the same way you came. It is the word that will produce the transformation. But how can the word that is devalued transform lives? There can be no transformation anywhere the word of God is devalued. These teachers declare boldly that they don’t believe in deliverance. If you don’t believe in deliverance, what do you believe in? They believe that the moment you are born again, you are fully delivered.

Error stinks. Mark 16:17 says the first sign that shall follow them who believe is that in the name of Jesus, they shall cast out devils. One thing you cannot feign is the ability to cast out devils; you can feign tongues. Take note also that the devil hates the word of God in your heart. He attacks the correct word; the sincere milk of the word because he knows that the moment you have the word, he cannot manipulate it anyhow. That is what we are going to use to resist and checkmate him. That is how the Holy Spirit will lead you in alignment with the word. The word is the revealed will of God. You cannot grow until you start to enjoy the word. You cannot develop your spiritual muscles unless you have leant to feast on the word. The muscle that you don’t feed will atrophy; in medical science it is called disused atrophy. It will shock you how your muscles will sag if you stop lifting weights. Most people eat three times a day, but how many times do you feast on the word? It is the muscle you feed that will be able to lift your weight. That is why a lot of people cannot lift spiritual weights; they are feather weight.
