CONFRONTING THE AGENTS OF DEVALUATION VI

Examples in the Bible

1. King Saul.

“So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it.”
I Chronicles 10:13, KJV

A lot of people do not even know when they cross the red line, they cross the red line and feel nothing. Crossing the red line is to transgress. To transgress is to exceed bounds; when you do, the spirit of self destruction takes over. The spirit of self destruction is the spirit of leave me alone, I know what is good for me. I can go to other places. If you go to a place where God has not placed you, you are a spiritual vagabond. No matter where you go, if you carry iniquity in your heart, God will not hear you. You will end up in Endor because that spirit has already taken possession of you. Devaluation starts in the garden of the heart; when you devalue an instruction, you have devalued the instructor. When you challenge a man of God, you are not challenging the man but the call of God upon his life! Jesus did not say my lion, hawk, goat or eagle hear my voice, no. He said my sheep hear my voice. A lot of Church going people today have inadvertently taken instructions from people with familiar spirits in their lack of discernment and lack of commitment to growth. If you are not growing in the word of God, you will start looking for someone to ‘see’ for you. Nobody goes to Endor and return the same. Every evil they ‘see’ will eventually happen to the person. There are so many charlatans out there who do not have the discipline to study the word of God and live by it. Stop the iniquity in your heart before it stops you from receiving from God.

2. King Asa.
He started well with a lot of reforms, but how did he end up? Even when confronted with his errors, he failed to repent. It is very painful.

“And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand. Were not the Ethiopians and Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand. For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.”
2 Chronicles 16:7-9, 12-13, KJV

God will always remember your good works and so gives you opportunity to rethink when you miss it. However, the moment the wicked spirit of devaluation enters, people tend to lose their senses because it is the spirit of self destruction. No return. No repentance. There is no basis for reconciliation until there is proper repentance. The worst thing that can happen to anyone who is headed in the wrong direction is to refuse to take advice from people who point you to the word of God. Instead, such a person will go and team up with and take advice from the wrong people who will mislead them.
