4. Disobedience.
Disobedience makes the heavens to close and with closed heavens if you pray, there will be no connection. If you send any message it will bounce back. If you decide to go through the ‘internet’, it will not function. If you are serious in your walk with God, whenever you come to his presence, you must come with humility. Ask yourself – Is there something I have done that can make my prayer not to fly?

Psa. 66:18 says if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Prayer is not a mechanical thing. God takes the prayer of the disobedient as an abomination, not even your sacrifice. You cannot buy it with money. If there is any office that has been so devalued today, it is the office of a pastor; today, everybody is a pastor. Who called you into ministry? The Bible says, he gave some apostles, some prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers (Eph. 4:11). There are so many earthbound Churches today that are run by human wisdom and not by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5. Self will.
Pride is nothing but idolatry of self. Idolatry is perversion of worship. The moment you magnify self above God, you have already devalued God to your size. Don’t cut God to your size. God is not your classmate. Today, many of the people who go to Church are so full of self that it is difficult to help them. They are so ignorant of everything they have opinion about.

The only people who do not take their God seriously are Church goers. That is why they find it difficult to celebrate God. You cannot celebrate someone whom you do not recognize. You cannot celebrate the grace you have not recognized. It is called the law of recognition. The moment you reduce God to your classmate, there is nothing left. The God that is your classmate cannot be the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He cannot be the ancient of days, the one that said let there be light and there was light, the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, creator of the whole universe, the unchanging changer of the whole universe, Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

If you know God, you will tremble at his word, before he says it, you will jump at it. The only thing created that resists God is the human being, the ones he made in his own image and likeness. He did that out of abundant love. The image of God in man is your free will, you right to choose. Jesus Christ the perfect pattern Son said my meat is to do the will of him who has sent me and to finish his work even to the point of going to the cross (John 4:34). It was at the cross that the will of God and the will of man first crossed and man submitted. That was why God has so highly exalted him and given him a name that is above every name that at his name every knee should bow (Phil. 2:9-11).
