GO FOR GOLD
”For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is if any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.” (1 Corithians 3: 11-15 KJV)
The foundation of our Christian faith is Jesus Christ, the incarnate word of the Most High God. No one can add or subtract anything from this sure foundation. But one can choose the material to build with. One beautiful thing about Christian ethics is its inwardness. God weighs the Spirit behind any action. Every man’s work shall be tested by fire. A wonderful work in the sight of man may well be just a hay, wood or stubble which will be consumed by fire. Anything done in the flesh can never please God. According to theologians, Gold in this context represents the righteousness of God; precious stone denotes the Holiness of God while silver signifies the redemptive wisdom of God. The beauty of these materials is that fire makes them shine the more. Hay, wood, stubble signify works of the flesh.
Generally speaking, gold depicts: (1) the ultimate price (2) wealth (3) fidelity (4) excellence. Those who go for gold must be prepared to dig deep because gold is not found on the surface. It takes a quality decision, focus and discipline to get gold. You need: a discerning spirit, desiring spirit and a deciding spirit to achieve gold. You have to be beware of: distraction, detractors and discouragement.
Gold represents comprehensive success in kingdom service. In this wise, you will discover that the greatest success factor is the God factor. Daniel purposed in his heart, he was not going to be defiled (Daniel 1:8), he made it. Jesus, the pattern Son, denied Himself of heavenly glories in order to do the will of His Father. He made it. Apostle Paul said:
”Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV)
He made it. There is a prize of our high calling. Go for it. You will make it in Jesus’ Name. Amen
