DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART XX) THE GOD THAT ANSWERETH BY FIRE

CONTINUED . . .

  • Elijah was a ‘fire’ man. He was so full of fire that when the King of Syria sent his fifty-man army to kidnap him, he called down fire and they were consumed. He said ‘the king is not going to bring me down because I am connected to the King of kings; the Lord of Host, the Commander of the armies of Heaven, instead of my coming down, let fire fall and consume you’. However, because the king was heartless, he sent another fifty and yet another. When you become a spiritual technocrat, you don’t gamble because you understand spiritual things. What distinguishes a spiritual technocrat from others is that a spiritual technocrat understands the consequences of things; he understands the laws that make things happen in the realm of the spirit. He knows what to put together for things to happen. That was what Elijah demonstrated here. Set the stage for fire to fall, you do not need to wind and wind and twist and turn and fast because you are already a person of his presence. Elijah was such a ‘fire’ man that chariots of fire took him away. You must recognize that it is the spirit that leads you to the market place that will take you home. What is the spirit guiding your life today? Ensure that it is the Holy Spirit because He is the spirit that will take you home. The spirits guiding many people today vary from contrary spirits to ancestral spirits. Empowered by these spirits, they make a lot of ‘progress’ in life and become very ‘successful’ and prominent, some become Chief Executive Officers of multinational organizations. This is a way but it is not THE WAY because it is not in line with Christ. Ultimately, these spirits lead and guide them to hell. You need to understand the spirit that is leading you. You also need to understand that just as there is pure fire, there is also strange fire. If it must be the pure fire that is from above, you must follow divine principles. You need to be a person of his presence, no compromise. It is not very easy to be an African Christian, if you really want to be a true child of God, you must make a habit of renouncing idolatry because as you renounce they make the habit of re-enacting evil covenants on your behalf. It pays to set a very high spiritual standard for oneself. Don’t let any evil power bring you down.
  • He was an agent of revival, a change agent, a revivalist who knew how to optimize opportunity. When the flow was right, he knew how and when to capitalize and mop up. 1 Kgs 18:37, “Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again”. The essence of revival or evangelism is to turn the heart of the people back to the living God. That was his prayer. Elijah did everything according to the dictates of God, he acted upon divine guidelines. He prayed a short prayer and fire fell.
  • Elijah was a consummate warrior who will not let any of God’s enemies escape. He capitalized on what God did through the fire that fell to wipe out the entire 450 prophets of baal. Why did he do this? Because he knew that as long as they are alive, the revival will not last. They will turn the heart of the people back to baal. He rounded them off and wiped them out completely. The name of the Lord was magnified and the people worshipped God and there was revival in the land. 1 Kgs 18:39 says “And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God. and Elijah said to them, Take the prophets of baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there”. There are forces that need to give for the cloud of rain to gather in your life. Idolatry blocks the heaven, when the heavens are blocked, there will be no rain, when the heavens are blocked, there will be famine, hunger, poverty, scarcity, lack and so on.
