DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART XXI) THE GOD OF ELIJAH
In our previous discuss, we studied the life of Elijah, which was very revealing indeed. If you can model your life after that of Elijah; if you can replicate what he stood for, you too will be able to bring down fire with a very short prayer. We also came to the conclusion that it does not really take a lengthy prayer for miracles to happen for someone who understands the principles of the God of Elijah. The emphasis of that discuss was on the person of Elijah. Many times when people study the Mount Carmel experience, they concentrate more on the event more that the condition that birthed the event. Many people also try to call down fire without much success. Why? God has not changed. What then is missing in that chemistry? Elijah created the necessary atmosphere for the fire; he made adequate and necessary preparation that will bring down the fire. We saw the moves of this spiritual technocrat. The difference between a spiritual technocrat and a non-spiritual technocrat is that whatever the spiritual technocrat says will be established.
Who then is this God of Elijah? Rev.1:4-8, “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Behold he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”. Rev. 1: 17-19, “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death”. You need to understand some very important things about the God of Elijah. Elijah knew the God he was serving. The Bible says categorically in Dan. 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”. In other words, there are two classes of people; those who will be corrupted by flatteries and those who will do exploits. Someone said that if you fail to do exploits, you will be exploited. In this end time, it is better for you to do exploits.
We had earlier established that every exploit in life is a product of knowledge. Knowledge is so important in the scripture that it is mentioned over one thousand times in the New Testament alone. Even life eternal is predicated on knowledge. John 17:3 says “And this is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent”. The implication of Dan. 11:32 is that no knowledge, no exploits and no exploits, get ready to be exploited. This is an area where underdeveloped and developing economies of the world need to improve. What separates an underdeveloped economy from developed economies is knowledge. The world is driven by knowledge. Many people stop reading immediately they get certification. When was the last time you read a book for the purpose of acquiring knowledge? There are two classes of people on earth: those who are informed and those who are deformed. Lack of knowledge leads to deformity. You cannot be a good Manager of resources if you don’t place premium on knowledge. The Bible says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. Prov. 4:7. What is wisdom? Wisdom is the correct practical application of knowledge for one’s own benefit and for the benefit of others.
