DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART XXI) THE GOD OF ELIJAH

The reason why people don’t value the promises of God such as “I am with you always”, is because we do not really know who this God is. It will help our faith if we really appreciate the greatness, awesomeness, omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscient nature of this our mighty God. This message will help us to know just a bit of who this God really is. It is good that you know the God you are serving. If you don’t know, you will not treasure him and what you don’t treasure will take a walk. What you don’t celebrate will diminish, what you celebrate is what you attract.

• This God is the God of Abraham. Gen. 17:1-8 “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked to him, saying, as for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God”. These scriptures tell us that he is the God of Abraham. Gen. 21:1-8 “And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. and she said, who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? For I have born him a son in his old age. And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned”. He is the Almighty God, he is the covenant keeping God; the God of multiplication. He is a God who changes situations; he is a destiny changer. All you need is an encounter with this God and the whole narrative of your life will change. Everything about your life will change with just one encounter with this God. He keeps covenants. There is a limit to which you can walk with God if you are outside covenant. A covenant is a binding agreement between two or more people. God is a covenant keeper and every promise of God in his word is a covenant. If you download the covenant, he will prove himself faithful; he will keep the covenant to the letter. The living God, the God of Elijah is a covenant keeper and he is the almighty. Many times, it will help you to just close your eyes and meditate on the Almightiness of God instead of allowing your heart to drift and magnify the challenges. No matter how, it is just beneficial to close your eyes and just begin to meditate, to think of the almightiness of this God who can change your music; who can give you a new song. Looking back, thousands of years have come and gone, yet, his covenant with Abraham still stands and we are beneficiaries of this covenant. Gen. 21”1-3, “And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac”. Old age is not a deterrence to God’s miracles, neither is science. A miracle is a wonderful sensible event above but not contradictory to nature which is done by divine intervention. Whenever God intervenes, there will be miracles. The God of Elijah is the God of miracles, it does not matter what medical doctors have told you; where medical doctors finish is where Doctor Jesus starts. He is the doctor that cannot fail. An encounter with this God will not only dismantle and destroy every manifestation of barrenness in your life, it will destroy poverty, unfruitfulness, sickness and diseases, it will turn your fortunes around. He will not only heal you, he will make you a healing agent in a sick world. You will be celebrated nationally and internationally. The name of the Lord will be magnified in your life and your evangelism will be sweet. When people look around you, they will see the goodness of the Lord; when people look around you, they will see testimonies, they will see miracles and they will exclaim that this can only be God. Elijah said ‘and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God’ which means that God makes a habit of answering. This God is faithful, has he said it; it will surely come to pass. We saw an encounter in 1 Kings chapter 17 vs 1 and we saw the fulfillment of this in 1 Kings chapter 18 vs 45.
