- The God of Elijah is the God of Isaac. Gen. 26:1-5 “And there was famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went into Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; and I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws”. God appeared to Abraham and established a covenant with him in chapter 17, in chapter 21; we see the fruit of that covenant fully manifested. He is the God of progress. I get excited when I look at the generational blessings that follow those who serve God. It is one of the things that we Christians need to enjoy. Many times, people concentrate on generational curses, yes; there are generational curses, which are still very active in Africa because of idolatry. Wherever you find idolatry, there will be curses, which are generational. However, there is something that is superior to generational curses, it is called generational blessings. If you are faithful in your walk with God, it is not just about you, the blessings will follow your children and children’s children. That is generational. There will be fruits, if you walk with this God, he will give you fruits and the fruit will continue to multiply until you become fruitful. Even in the time of famine, you will still be bearing fruits. It was in the time of famine that he appeared unto Isaac because of the covenant he had with Abraham and gave him specific and direct instructions; divine guidance. One of the blessings of walking with the God of Abraham is divine guidance. God will tell you what to do and if you act upon that divine signal, you will have the miraculous.
- He is also the God of Jacob. Gen. 28:11-17 “And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD GOD of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven”. The covenant God had with Abraham continued down the line – generational blessings. He is a God of progressive prosperity. When God establishes you, the blessings will multiply in the hands of the generation coming after you to higher levels, greater heights, greater glory, greater success, greater dominion, greater exploits; no more limitations. The blessings of the Lord will increase and multiply in your hands, your success shall not be punctuated; it shall be transmitted down the line from generation to generation in the name of Jesus. There will be greater levels of honour, greater levels of exploits, blessings, promotion, prosperity, anointing, accelerated progress and manifestation of the wisdom of the almighty. He leads from glory to glory. That is one of the ways to know if you are in the right connection. A right connection will electrify your life; the greatest connection you can have is the God connection. As a Chartered Electrical Engineer, by the grace of God, I know the power of connection. A wrong connection can electrocute. After you have connected to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, make sure that you teach your children also to make the right connection especially in their choice of life partner. Because of just one ‘Achan’ in the camp, the all-conquering Israeli army started suffering defeat. Be very careful about your connections. Every person that comes into your life is like an elevator; that will either take you up or take you down.
