BE A BLESSING

‘ O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name, but who am I and who are my people that we should be permitted to give anything to you ? Everything we have has come from you and we only give you what is yours already ! For we are here for but a moment, strangers in the land as our fathers were before us, our days on earth are like a shadow, gone so soon, without a trace. O lord our God, all of this material that we have gathered to build a temple for your holy name comes from you ! It all belongs to you !’

King Solomon was a consummate worshipper. The value he placed on his relationship with God motivated him to offer a Thousand burnt offering ; on the eve of his revolutionary encounter with God. What you celebrate is what you attract. He understood that there is absolutely nothing we have that we were not given. All good and perfect gifts come from God. We should never act as if we were the giver. We are but stewards of divine benevolence. One of the ways to express our appreciation of God’s loving kindness to us is by falling in love with Him and giving in support of His work on earth. The quality of our gifts is an indication of the value we place on our relationship with God. For a true worshipper living is giving. The most sterile life is a life that is spent in accumulating material wealth for personal aggrandizement.

You can also express your love for God through giving to the poor and needy . The Bible States :

“God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more, so that there will not only be enough for your own needs, but plenty left over to give joyfully to others. It is as the scriptures say : “The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever”

(2 Corinthians 9 :8-9 TLB)

Surely, it is good to be blessed, but it is better to be a blessing. The best way to live is to invest in things that have eternal value. Anyone who gives to the poor lends to God. The interest rate is in several digits. Your gift is a seed with a coded instruction to produce a bountiful harvest.

Finally, it pays to remember that the only thing a departing soul takes away from the earth is HOPE. It is only in Christ that there is HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE. Outside Christ the HOPE IS DEAD. According to 1 Peter 1 : 4 : “And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of eternal life ; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay”.

Touch someone’s life today with love. Be a blessing. Lay up treasures in heaven.

Give your life to Jesus. Say the simple prayer below:

Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you.  I acknowledge that I am a sinner, please have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. Jesus Christ , Son of the Living God, I unreservedly surrender my life to you. I confess that you died and rose from the dead for me. Please be my Lord and personal saviour, and grant me the grace to live for you all the days of my life. Thank you so much Lord Jesus, I proclaim I am born again. Amen.
