CELEBRATING THE HOLY SPIRIT

  • The Holy Spirit gives us victory over sin. A good knowledge of the consequences of sin will make you appreciate any personality that can give you victory over sin; not just victory but dominion over sin. The Holy Spirit blesses us and empowers us to have dominion over sin. Without the assistance of the Holy Spirit, nobody can have dominion over sin. The Holy Spirit helps you to love God so much, he helps you to love what God loves and to hate what God hates. Before that temptation comes your way, he warns you ahead of time. If, however, you fall into sin, you will no longer be comfortable; you will lose your peace because you are in tune with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. What a wonderful partner to walk with in a world that is full of sin, rottenness and corruption. Anybody who is in tune with the Holy Spirit should not be comfortable in a sinful environment because the Holy Spirit is the spirit of sanctification, he is the spirit of holiness, no one can be holy in the real sense of it without the Holy Spirit. You are either carnally minded where all you think about is how to gratify the flesh or you are spiritually minded. If you are spiritually minded, then you have started living. Anybody who lives to gratify the flesh does not know the true meaning of life. He is earthly; earth bound, there is no God in him at all. Unfortunately, many people are earthbound. Many Church programmes are earth bound – they are not preparing people for heaven instead they are preparing people for what to eat. The Bible says to be carnally minded is enmity with God. If what determines everything you think about on earth is just what to eat and how to make money, you have not started living because this is lowest form of life. Even in management, there is a theory called Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. At the base of this hierarchy is the physiological needs – what to eat, what to wear and so on. We need to celebrate the Holy Spirit because what you celebrate is what gets magnified in your life. When you focus on the Holy Spirit, you will not only attract him but you will be a carrier of the very essence of life.
  • The Holy Spirit is our Source of Spiritual power. Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Anytime you see the move of power, always ask yourself, ‘what is the source of that power?’ Don’t get carried away. There is pure fire of the Holy Spirit and there is strange fire. If it is not the Holy Spirit, then, it is a contrary spirit. RUN! According to the scripture quoted above, it is the Holy Spirit that empowers us, he is the source of our power for kingdom service. Without the Holy Spirit, nobody can be can be a true witness, if you try to do it without the Holy Spirit, you will witness in flesh. So, we need to celebrate the Holy Spirit because he is the source of our power for kingdom service. Of course, the King of the kingdom is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
